And the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs is believed to have measured around 100 Teratons, or 2 million times the Tsar Bomba.

You'd have thought that the drawback of relying on the deterrent effect of a doomsday bomb for your defence is that no one would actually dare use it, because to all intents and purposes it would mean punching the global auto-destruct button. If it's a choice between a doomsday bomb that you daren't use, and low-yield or conventional weapons that can be freely employed without the fear of escalating conflict to Armageddon, surely it's the side that puts its faith in less powerful weapons that's going to win.

Do you think the US has a secret way to disable nukes if they are targeting us?

Who knows ?

Naturally we would try and shoot incoming missiles down.

But we can't get them all if we have 1,700 missiles coming at us and 6,000 on standby.

Just read a bit about Tsar Bomba. Apparently, it leveled a village over 20 miles away, and could have caused 3rd degree burns at 60 miles away. It also cause the airplane that dropped it to fall a little less than a mile at 24 miles away. Crazy shit, I can see why they reduced the yield.

Another epic read.

All of the wooden and brick buildings in nearby Severny, located 34 miles from the aiming point or ground zero, were annihilated. In other Soviet districts located over a hundred miles from ground zero, wooden houses were demolished, and brick and stone ones suffered damages. Radio communication outages were also reported. One test witness felt the thermal effects at a distance of 170 miles, even with dark goggles. The intense heat from the detonation was capable of causing third-degree burns at a distance of 62 miles from ground zero. The shock wave was felt as far away as the Dikson settlement located 430 miles away, and windows shattered at a distance of 560 miles. Windows even shattered as far away as Norway and Finland due to atmospheric focusing of the shock wave. Despite being an air burst detonated 13,000 feet above ground, Tsar Bomba’s seismic magnitude was estimated at 5–5.25. Seismic sensors continued to register shockwaves even after a third revolution around the Earth.

It's not difficult math. (although his factors are off.) Wiki for GBU-43/B, little boy, and B83.

Honestly I just assumed it was from a website due to the italics.

The exact text was from Reddit - but like he said, it's easy math.
