Literally the only time he ever contacts me is when he needs some cash.

I've lent him close to 10K and I've never seen a cent back.

I'm starting to get fed up of this. I told him I would assist him in finding a job but he said he can do it on his own.

This was over 18 months ago.

Now he's telling me he needs $3,000 and won't tell me the reason. He's never asked for this much at once before.

What the hell should I do.

Assuming this actually happened, don't give him anything. He's taking advantage of you and you're just letting him. Block his number and let him sort it out on his own.

It's tough. I have 2 brothers and I would do anything in the world for them, and they would do the same for me. But 10k later and he hasn't made an effort to improve his situation. Sometimes tough love is for the best. It sucks and he'll be mad at you, but he's gotta get his shit together.
