Because nerds are supposed to be smart and a lot of the smartest people in the world are japenese.

But there is "dumb nerds" too. Because the word pretty much lost it's real meaning.

However you want to label it is fine. I was gonna say "geeks" at first.

nerds are smart
geeks are into pop culture
dorks are just like, awkward people

I think you could be a dork and be one of the other 2 at the same time maybe

I guess you could be all 3 potentially if you were super smart and knew math and shit but also read comic books in your breaks

I always assumed it was because they think Japanese women will be submissive like in the anime, so they would be easier to get than American women, even for the betas

Anime caters to that base....Not trying to be mean but most nerds tend to not be the most social of people. Anime purposely sexualizes their female characters because they know that group of men love it....Those Anime's help nerds live out those fantasies...they eventually get exposed to other Japanese things as a result. Not saying this is true for ALL of them, just what it seems to be...

....also Video Games.

It's kind of like when a friend comes over and your cat tries to mooch pets off of them because it knows they're not sick of its shit yet. It's already ruined its reputation at home, if it ever had one, but the new person represents a fresh start.

I think that its because the exposure from that culture resonates with the individual. The culture seems creative, imaginative, innovative, and productive compared to the immediate influence of that individual. These individuals find somewhere they belong and have more common thoughts and ideas with the other culture. The culture provides an abundance of sources to prove and verify these claims. These provide a positve re-enforcement of what seems to be in their eyes. All the while their current social and local ideals arent fostered as readily as the other culture.

Nerds are outcast because our society labels them that way. Is it surprising these individuals want to leave with all their ideas and go somewhere they can be appreciated? Well, if they felt that way...

Many nerds are of the belief that Japan is like this alternative dimension version of the US, where instead of valuing social skills, athletic ability, looks, etc, Japan values how much of an encyclopedia knowledge of anime you have and how many katanas you have purchased off the internet

For me it's mainly about the language and to a lesser extent videogames, I can't judge the culture until I get the chance to visit.

I have fun learning Japanese and I've had the chance to enjoy their media more because of it. I can't really speak about the usual comparisons between the U.S. and Japan that always seems to find their way into this kind of topic, as I have never been to either of those countries (and my native language isn't even English.)

Bright colors , Robots, ect . Japan seems to be at the cutting edge of many things techie thus many "nerds" would love that.

Next anime a lot of groups love anime , and nerds just happen to be in this group.

Also have you seen how many pages anime girl topics get. There is an intersect between Nerds and people who are socially isolated. NOTE THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. So cute anime girls are always a plus for these people. They are sweet, nice, can come in catgirl from. And so they are something that people are drawn too. Besides the Tsundare (sp) I don't get why anyone likes those.

Not a nerd, but I like Japanese culture. Not much of an anime fan, but I do enjoy the occasional film.

I'm more interested in the food, ceremonies, and art. A lot of it is done with emphasis on their seasons, and I think there's something quite beautiful about it.

I think it's weird that all you guys associate with Japanese culture is anime when there's so much more. There are a lot of things to like about other cultures as well, but if you're not willing to be open to them, you'll never know.

I think the biggest reason people keep being up anime is just due to the nature of this topic speaking about the "nerds".

Well, considering Japan has increasingly turned into a society of shut-in virgins, there may be some accuracy to that statement.

Cardboard thin characterization allows unintelligent geeks to more easily identify the personalities of characters. That's the angry one, the brooding one, the excited one, etc.

The plots always take an inordinate amount of time to exposit on every last detail of the plot so that there's no chance their young audience will get confused.

Constant stream of fanservice because they know their audience needs constant titillation or they'll remember the state of their social lives.

I understand casually liking anime, but weebs are just dorks.
