that was the main reason i ditched my galaxy s6 edge for an iPhone 7. with the S6 edge I'd have to charge my phone like three times a day. I'd leave it on my desk at work, not touch it for 8 hours, and then pick it up at the end of the workday and the battery is at like 50%. before going out for a day I'd have to make sure my phone was at 100% so it wasn't dead before I got home.

Shit like that. What's the point of having a nice smartphone if you can't even keep the damn thing turned on half the time? Since I bought the iPhone I've never had a single battery issue. It lasts me all day always, it doesn't drain when it's not being used, and unless I am streaming movies or something on it for a long time it's very hard to kill the battery.

If this is all you use your phone for, what is the point of buying a $900 one?

Even if you upgraded and got it discounted, I just don't see the point of buying brand new phones.

Like, what exactly makes the S5 so obsolete that you can't do all those same things for 600 less dollars?

Not real world tests. My note 5 lasts 1 day of very light usage (10 hours sitting in my pocket and 1 hour web browsing) before i have to charge it. I forgot to charge my iphone 7 for a week and it was only down to 37% with 30m of web browsing a day

I find that the LED indicator really kills your battery overnight if it keeps flashing due to a notification or message you got while you were asleep. I wake up and I find it's lost as much as 8% overnight (from 100%).

But it's still got the best battery life compared to the other smartphones I've had in the past (iPhone 4, Galaxy S5, LG G4).

That's not all I use it for, it's a work day. And because I want something newer lol. I got that stupid jump thing with T-Mobile so I can get 3 new phones a year

Turn off Always On Display and LED notifications when you're asleep. Use an AMOLED true black wallpaper. You can limit the amount of constant pinging of location services, wifi scanning, etc since they're marginal improvements compared to battery usage.

Like I get that an iPhone is better straight out of the box, but you have to customize your Android. That's kind of the point.

I just upgraded from a Galaxy S3 to a Google Pixel a month ago. Such a perfect phone, I love it. Battery life is fantastic on it.

Yeah, Androids tend to have more things running in the background and do tend to have poorer battery life after some usage, despite early near stock benchmarks. I will say, the S7 and Pixel have one of the best Android battery times so far, but compared to my iPhone 7, they still can't keep up. Especially if you're a moderate to heavy user/browser. Though the Pixel started out AMAZINGLY well. It was doing better then the 7, till one of the updates fucked it up.

But yeah, one of the best things about the iPhone is pretty much never having to worry about making a full day, especially with at least moderate use.

This. Also "gps" doesn't mean anything. Are you using navigation or just leaving GPS on? Because that uses next to no battery life if you're not actively using it in an app. If you're using navigation, your phone would not still be at 95% as the screen drains a shit load of battery

I use GPS without the screen on all the time. The screen with turn on when I'm a ¼ mile out. Doesn't drain as much battery but it still burns it.
