All of those sports games are in "never, ever, ever happening" territory, because of licensing. (There's a reason we keep getting re-releases of Tecmo Bowl but not Tecmo Super Bowl, and it's not because they think it's the one we like more.)

Tetris Attack is also probably in permanent limbo because of the mistake they made of putting "Tetris" in the name of the title. That reason alone is why I did not include it in my list.

Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run is literally in my top ten games. Granted I never played KGJPMB

Presents > Winning Run. Not sure if it's as charming to a new player now, but that game does simple baseball so perfectly it's insane. Winning Run felt like it was...trying too hard. But I'm child of the 90s and a diehard Griffey fan so I loved Winning Run anyway

Idk man. Obviously I am 100% biased because I never played Presents, but I literally played more hours of WR than any other game. I have regularly been playing that game since I was a child, I would estimate around 1,000 hours. My favorite part about it is the extensive stats that the game logs in the season mode.

League licenses to use actual team names are different than getting players association licenses to use real players

It's always awkward when a game has one but not the other.

Well, it works but I think people say that because theres a plastic thing at the end port of the wire that prevents a second controller being plugged in

it looks like it can be forcefully removed or bypassed by an extension cable

its not ideal but it DOES function

SF2 is a quintessential game for the SNES, and NES classic had MM2 and Final Fantasy.

I'd assume he signed his rights to his likeness away when the game was made, at least for this particular game. It would be similar to the way WWE wrestlers do.

SF2 is a quintessential game for the SNES, and NES classic had MM2 and Final Fantasy.

The next question: which version of SF2 would they go with? The original is much too slow, but the two best choices are SF2 Turbo and Super SF2.

My speculation about not being able to get SFII for this collection is that it's gonna be around the same time Capcom is releasing a new edition of SFII and they may be worried about cutting into profits. (They shouldn't, actually, but I just get the sense that they will.)

I updated the hacking program on my NES Classic to start looking into doing the SNES thing

it had been months since I did it and they've released several updates to the program


it formatted my NES and now I have to redownload everything >_>

I'm assuming the same criteria apply as did to the NES Classic, which is that they won't be including any games that have never been on some iteration of the Virtual Console (which means no Super FX games and few if any licensed games), and also that except in special cases, we're only getting one game per series. I also think we're gonna see the total cut down to 25 games because 30 is a tall order for non-licensed non-Super FX SNES games.

The following 17 games are stone cold locks. These have been on every SNES Virtual Console, and are all owned by either Nintendo or their partners in retro crime, Capcom and Konami.

Super Mario Kart
F-Zero
Pilotwings
Kirby's Dream Course
a Donkey Kong Country game (probably 1 but hopefully 2)

a Mega Man game (almost certainly X1)
a Street Fighter game (probably Turbo but maybe Super)
a Final Fight game (my guess is 3)

Then we come to games that have been released on at least two Virtual Consoles. I think the most likely ones here are:

Earthbound
Kirby Super Star
Super Mario RPG
Demon's Crest
Axelay
Harvest Moon

And lastly games that have been out on only the original Wii Virtual Console, but the collection would lose all validity without them:

Chrono Trigger
a Final Fantasy game (I hope to GOD that it's III but you just KNOW it'll be II because it's been a year or two since FFII got rereleased)

It's a little RPG heavy but so was the SNES, when you get down to it.

EDIT:
I guess if they can get Super FX games it might make 30. Add Star Fox, Yoshi's Island, and maybe Stunt Race FX to the list, and then toss on two random other things to round it out. Wild Guns and Vegas Stakes maybe? Ken Griffey if they can work the licensing but it's never been on VC so I doubt they care to try.

Honestly I'd say it's more likely that Axelay, Harvest Moon, Kirby's Dream Course, Breath of Fire II, and one other game get cut and we only get 20 than we get Super FX games and 30.
