usually on christmas i didnt get what i put on my list (only a few things), and I would often get nothing for easter.

birthdays were 4-5 gifts a year, so that was also pretty terrible!!

Sort of.

Lived with mom who didn't make much. We had just what we needed. Everyone else had moved on to Gamecube I would still have N64, we didn't get high speed internet until we could afford it, only kid on the block with no cable etc.

On the other hand Dad made a lot of money through real estate and contracting, so birthdays were always loaded. Other than that I didn't get money of my own until recently.

My parents and two siblings close to my age rock but my two oldest siblings suck and caused a lot of problems for the whole family for a few years. They really took advantage of my parents' awesomeness and ruined some stuff for us younger kids. On the other hand, they did temper my parents' hippie nonsense and brought them around to a more balanced approach in raising us, so I may have to thank them for not being a flower child named Ocean (yes my mom had plans to name me that).

i'm the opposite but the same in ways. I had a good upbringing but makes me realize how insane the media is. the stuff that is out there is absurd. I truly believe that too. people are sheeple. The people in power are utter morons on a lot of things. The average person is also an idiot because of it.

Well, aside from getting bullied everyday during school, and a somewhat troubled home life, I think I've been brought up pretty good.

My childhood was about cold and negging, went from rich to poor but when we were rich my dad negged me (kept putting me down in front of others). Then my mother had to work and I got negged by neighbor, I think my brother put him up to it.

No. My dad hated me, told me everyday that I was worthless, and that he wished I was dead. No matter what, if he became upset at something, he took it out on me by beating me. I was never allowed to do anything, I simply had to stay silent in my room or risk another beating, but then I'd get cussed out and insulted for spending the day locked away in my room. He had a bullet with my name marked on it, and kept it near his gun, claiming it's only a matter of time until he simply decides to get rid of me.

I always assumed he was just saying that stuff to be mean, because he's a very spiteful person. But when I was 9 years old, I was horribly injured in a car accident and needed surgery to save my life. He refused to sign the consent form. Apparently he told the doctors to let me die. If it weren't for my mom throwing a fit over that until he changed his mind, I would've been left to die by him. Then later in life, he got mad because my mom came into my room and watched a movie with me instead of spending that time with him in the other room(first time she'd ever watched a movie with me), and he decided it was time to end me. He was trying to load my bullet into his gun to kill me, but my mom and I attacked him before he got it loaded. It became a big brawl with my brother joining in, and my dad doing everything in his power to kill me, he was strangling me but I managed to break free and call 911. He smashed the phone from my hand before I could talk to anybody though. Then he calmed down and started watching tv, while cussing me, telling me if he ends up in prison that it's my fault. The cops arrive, but didn't even do anything... We temporarily moved to my grandma's house. Turns out he stayed home and watched porn right after we left. Stay classy dad.

That's not to mention how emotionally manipulative my mom is. I'm all kinds of messed up. I'm 33 years old and struggle with horrible self esteem, extreme social anxiety, and bad depression . What I want out if life is to find a girlfriend who cares for me, and help me grow out of this stupid juvenile mindset. But I'm incapable of meeting people, and instead opt to spend my life at home locked in my bedroom just like I always have, and I hate myself for it.

Damn dude, that's a terrible upbringing that you went through. No wonder you are struggling with all those issues. You should probably try and seek help. It's not your fault that you need it.

Damn dude, that's a terrible upbringing that you went through. No wonder you are struggling with all those issues. You should probably try and seek help. It's not your fault that you need it.

I tried therapy last year, but I was somehow unfortunate enough to find the worst therapist ever. He just made things worse, and I became pretty suicidal while seeing him. I stopped visiting him late last year. I also temporarily was on depression medicine, but it was kind of expensive and wasn't helping, so I stopped that too.

yes. my mom is a saint, still the best person i know and my dad is kinda shitty but he always made plenty of money and provided whatever i needed and wanted for the most part

Nope. My family loves me. But it is my fault that my life is shitty because of all the poor choices I made. I was a very smart kid when I was younger and my family had high hopes for me, but I let that all go. Now I work a crappy job and live in a crappy apartment when I could've had better.
