Only 4102 brackets for this contest. It turned out to be so low that even theawesomestevr (who had the closest prediction) still put in a prediction that was higher than our total number of brackets for this contest.

Luster I remember in one of the past contests you had entered like 200 brackets or something like that. Did you do that this time as well? (Can you still do that?) If so does that mean you would have almost 10% of the total brackets in the contest?

The one thing with this contest is that it takes much less time to fill out a bracket since there's only 36 matches, so I thought that alone would partly make up for the low interest in this contest. We've had other contests with up to 243 entrants (Character Battle 2013) or the 4-way contests of 2007, 2008, and 2009 that had a more complicated format and many people might not have bothered to fill out a bracket for the larger contests.

I was gonna go with less than 5000, but then I looked at the numbers for previous years and thought "well, it couldn't have decreased by that much!"

But apparently it could...!

Well I mean the real question I'm trying to get answered is "does Luster have a statistically significant portion of the brackets?", which has the same answer for anything between 5% and 10%.

I also read 4000 as 3000 for some reason.

I initially was only going to guess 4,000, but then I saw how much higher the other guesses were and decided to put my guess closer to 5k. Given the amount of attention this contest was given accross the site, I was expecting a low entry total.

You're not allowed to enter multiple brackets with the same results anymore. I've always wondered to what degree you could fill out multiple brackets with every permutation of the most debated close matches, but I've never bothered to do it myself. I think I only did 4 or 5 this time, mainly with different versions of the 1997/1996/2000 cluster.

It's a shame because a turnout like this will make SB think no one on the site cares about Contests anymore and it's not worth running them, when in reality this would have been a much more respectable number had it been given a front page banner, poll the day before asking if you had your bracket in yet and mentioning the $2000, yellow site alert, etc.

I never stated how the winner would be determined. In any case, since I made this topic, I have the final word on how the winner is determined. In the past, I've always done by the closest prediction.

This is not the past. As you've stated in the past you've made previous choices but by Schrodinger's Law, you are equally likely to choose any ruling at any given time and therefore I will continue to ask until you say that I've won due to the laws of quantum physics.

Yeah, it was a huge shame that SB did not even give us a Poll of the Day asking if you had your bracket in. There was a yellow site alert for registered users that SB put up on the last Friday before the deadline. For the unregistered site visitors, the yellow site alert was put up less than 15 minutes from bracket lockdown.

This post is correct. As Deepak Chopra taught us, quantum mechanics means that anything at all can happen for no reason.
