Danny Siegel, the undergraduate student body president at the University of California, Los Angeles is being blasted after a leaked photo showed him making an offensive GANG SIGN which was taken last year..

The hand sign is primarily an African American street gang sign that was shared in a GroupMe chat called "Protect the Crown" by Brian Kohaya, his appointment director which said Problematic Danny (Don't you dare repost that photo)

Students started sharing screenshots of the photo, a day before voting this year USAC elections.

Danny is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and 3rd year Poli Sci student as UCLA students expressed outrage over it as many say he should resign over the photo

Robert Gardner said "When a white person throws up the gang sign, they're basically making a mockery of the oppression that African Americans in hyper-segregated neigborhoods face. A lot of black Bruins are extremely upset at this appropriation of our culture..that's derived out of anti-black racism". His cousin died as a result of gang violence and said many African Americans in segregated neighborhoods joined gangs to make money or for protection.

Kosi Ogbuli said the photo was inexcusable as he says it's a sign of a lot of danger

Danny apologized and said "This is indefensible. I'm not going to try and make excuses for this. Though this picture was taken over a year ago and i question why whoever had possession of it decided to release now in the midst of our elections instead of engaging with me about it directly, t hat doesn't make the pain i may have caused folks looking at this go away. I engaged in narrow-mindedness and total disrespect. I want to be up front: this is a result of my white privilege and lack of perspective, something that so many victims of gang violence don't have the luxury of, in fact this behaviour can put their lives at risk. When i as a white man make a simple mistake, joke or claim ignorance, i can get off easy, while a person of colour it can be criminal. I am thankful to God and my family that i have never experienced gang violence and triviliazing it, regardless of my intentions, hurt people and for that i am sorry."

Danny is part of Bruins United which is a Liberal group and endorsed by the Bruins Democrats..but many of the members were upset over the photo and demand he apologize or take action beyond apologizing as several people in the photo were with him but said nothing when he made that sign.
