I remember back in 2002 i bought a 40 gig harddrive and people thought i was crazy!!! and it was just to big and no need for that size.

Uncompressed files and patches are the main issue here. More so the later. Thankfully I don't play online all that much so any game that has large patches gets removed after I'm done with the single player. It's not a problem reinstalling if I ever want to visit said game again.

last night the CSGO patch was bigger than 300 mb. granted sims came out two years pior but really. Patching a 15 year old game!
