I would say the "general" consensus is between 1998 and 2001, but 98 has more games that are straight up iconic.

However, 2001 was as great if not better. I definitely hype up 2001 plenty as well. Fall/Winter 2001 (basically when MGS2, Halo, Melee released through FFX) was probably better than Fall 1998. Its just 1998 as a whole was insane.

You might be right. Radiant Silvergun is a very early insane priced game. I coulda sworn it was around 2003/2004, but i might be wrong on that. PDS was like 99/00/01. I remember just like 1-2 years after PDS was released it was already seeing $100ish. By 2002/2003 it was close to $250 $300. But ya Radiant Silvergun is definitely an early riser in price too. --- Casual Revolution 2007 - 2016 ... Copied to Clipboard!

What about '92? It bascially redefined/created most genres of gaming with the likes of Ultima vii, Dune 2, Mario Kart, Wolfenstein 3d, Virtua Racing, Alone in the Dark.
92 is responsible for the RPG, Stretegy, Racing, FPS, and Horror genres. And those genres basically cover all of modern gaming. Then again by that same logic you could blame '92 for the state of modern gaming. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Obviously I wasn't claiming Ultima VII created the RPG genre considering it isn't even the first of its own series, but it sure redefined it. It was the game that brought immersion to the industry, with its NPC schedules and such.
