Metal Gear and Castlevania are pretty much dead now thanks to Konami. The Legend of Zelda is doing great. Final Fantasy is still ticking. Mega Man is '87, too, right? That one is pretty dead with occasional thumps of life. Ahh, the year of my birth is a special time for joy.

GameFAQs doesn't have anywhere near as many Gen-Xers as it does Millennials. Most of us were either unborn or in diapers in 1987, so the same nostalgia is not present considering any games from that year had to be played retroactively. We did not experience the same mind-blowingly awesome feelings that our forefathers did in the original Zelda or Metroidvania. We got those from SNES, N64, and PSX games, thus those have the fondest place in our hearts.

Expect 1997 or 1998 to win this.

i do, but i am voting based on that years influence on the industry as a whole, not the specific titles that were released. metrois suckes but it apawned super metroid. ya know? final fantasy saved an entire brand feom wxrincrion. teigger was just cool foe its time.
