Not sure if it's even a cactus. Anyways it got left at my house by someone who bought it on a whim and I don't want to just let it die so how much water should I give it and how often. ... Copied to Clipboard!

that doesn't look like a cactus. looks similar to an aloe plant. I water mine a drinking glass of water every 2 weeks. that one looks small so I'd water it less. less water is better than more. keep it in a place where it can get some sunlight and make sure it doesn't get too cold and it'll be just fine. They're really easy to care for

Pretty sure that's aloe. In which case it doesn't need much water, but it should have some sort of drainage so it doesn't rot.

Aloes aren't cacti, but they are succulents. iirc correctly, succulents can basically be treated like cacti. They don't really need a whole lot of water.
