The FDA allows the extract of the chemical to be used in food products but it is rarely actually used, only about 300 lbs are used in food production across the US each year. You have to consider that actually obtaining enough of a product like that to support any kind of major brand would be nearly impossible. It's not like there are a bunch of beaver farms (that sounds wrong) where they are mass producing this stuff. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Besides, castoreum is more common in fragrances and cosmetics--not for food use.
With vanilla you should be more worried about Mexican or other knockoff vanilla flavor containing coumarin which is actual rat poison. --- Never write off the Doctor! ... Copied to Clipboard!
