KR0 is cheaper than it's ever been by half, unless you were one of the few to buy the first episode before it was ever on Steam

I enjoyed it. The main character maneuvers smoothly and combat can be quite fun. The soundtrack and atmosphere are great, and it looks gorgeous. The quality of bosses surprised me. There are some drawbacks such as no in-game map, no incentive to explore, too much text, and an absurdly long cooldown for a particular attack.

I maybe wouldn't pay $13 for it knowing what I know, but if I wouldn't, I would pay something close to that.

Okay, I decided to bite on BTA. I realized that I didn't own any of the games, so paying $6.50-ish for six games plus however many come next week is a small risk for trying out Windward and Kentucky Route Zero.

Hm, I guess technically it isn't 13 but instead is 13 - BTA (So around 6) as IIRC I only own Ziggurat. It's also the style of game I know I enjoy: Metroidvania and Platformer.

They claim it to be a metroidvania? I sure didn't experience anything remotely like that.

If you want to get a borderline great action-adventure, then sure, go for it.

on owlboy, i found the gameplay mostly serviceable and occasionally frustrating, but otherwise it's super charming, heartfelt, and the mystery of the world kept me going.

Ziggurat: One of my favorite roguelikes. First-person shooter kind of thing but you attack with a magic wand and there's a grenade launcher and some other stuff. Colorful art style. Fun.
Windward: Dunno much about this.
Steamworld: Heist: One of my favorite games ever. Turn-based action strategy (small scale) with steampunk robots and a killer soundtrack.

Beat the Average
Kentucky Route Zero: Maybe the best adventure game ever made? And it's not even complete.
Beholder: IDK anything about this
Goat Simulator GOTY: no thanks

I thought Ziggurat's roguelike mechanics were beyond disappointing - the lack of player choice really sucks and leaves the game with about a 4-5 hour lifespan

At least it controls nice, and the environments are cool. Like it's ok to play but wow as a roguelike I have never played anything so lacking

It has way more than 4-5 hours of content if you want to unlock everything. There's a ton to unlock and a ton of character variety. Not sure where 4-5 hours comes from. Takes over 15 to get all the stuff unlocked.

There is absolutely no way the game could have possibly held my interest for 15 hours. There simply isn't enough there.

hm.... owlboy and KRZ are the two that i 1) don't have and 2) am interested in.

That's a shame, but you're in the minority overall. It's a very well-regarded game.
