Also, when the show comes back is it going to continue according to the actual story of the family that was revealed in the finale where they never won the lottery, David married Becky, Darlene married Mark, and Jackie was a lesbian?

I guess I totally missed that part of the finale ending. For some reason, I thought it was an "all a dream ending", and the kids were still young kids, while everything over the past several seasons had been Roseanne writing stories about what she hoped would happen with her kids.

roseanne is NOT a crazy liberal anymore.

she is now a right-wing conservative because she thinks Trump loves Israel and that Democrats hate Israel.

she continually retweets conservative pundits including Ann Coulter and Steve Bannon whom she greatly admires now.

The book began in the beginning season and was her memoirs throughout most of the show, of course with those details changed and the lottery never happening.

The book began when she got her writing room in season 2 or so.

Was that season 2? Thought it was 1 but that is correct.

one thing i will give credit to the series finale for is that it had a nice call back to either the first or second season

in an early episode of the show we find out that roseanne wanted to be a writer. dan built her a office to write in towards the end of the episode. it was never seen or heard from again.

then when you find out the entire series was just her telling her idealized life and her husband died. its the writing room that dan built for her that she walks out of as she finishes the last page of her book. so that writing room episode is the last accurate roseanne episode and the rest of the series is what she wrote

Right, but it's mostly all true events except the lottery and those 3-4 character/relationship changes.

That wasn't so much a callback as it was completely necessary to remind people that Roseanne wanted to be a writer which was a plot point that was almost entirely dropped years ago.

And I wouldn't say it was mostly true. A lot of episodes and plot points would be extremely different just because Darlene married Mark and Becky married David. There's no way that most of the major plot points would be compatible just by switching husbands around. Not to mention Jackie being a lesbian. For instance, I could buy that she had an abusive girlfriend, but do you really think Dan would go out, beat that woman's ass, and then only get a token night in jail? Oh, and how did she get her baby? Kinda doubt that Jackie - implied to be out and proud - had a one night stand with a dude who she married and later divorced.

I don't think she was a lesbian the whole time though, could have been straight still. I'm not sure if it was specified.

I mean, you joke, but the show actually had a lot of multi-episode plots and a ton of character development. There were stories that ran for entire seasons or multiple episodes (Jackie's abusive boyfriend, Darlene's vegetarianism, Darlene & David's comic, Becky going to college, etc) and their jobs shifted a lot during the show creating eras for the show. Probably not hurt by having some future famous writers on it like Joss Whedon and Chuck Lorre.

I mean, it's still a goofy comedy, but it actually had a surprising amount of continuity for a sitcom.

I don't know, I'd still say continuity. Losing actors or characters isn't unreasonable. It happens in a lot of continuity heavy shows. It's usually easily explained too (like the character moved away, or they visited off screen, or their story just ended).
