Acording to the timeline, i would have been an adult when certain millennials were still in elementary.

Why, yes, generations are periods of ~20 years or so.

More like 30, and it is supposed to be an example of an average between adult and a newborn.

These whole generational categories are just a bunch of BS thats made up to lump a group of people.

Not that many 20 year olds and 5 year olds have much in common.....

You were born the same year that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started. Michael Bay rebooted TMNT for the millennial generation. Therefore, you're a millennial.

Or something like that.

Eh, someone born in 87 is old enough to have experienced internet porn as a middle schooler. Might have been crappy dialup, but that was still a huge revolution that can define a generation.

I was born in '92 and I have nothing in common with millennials either. I was just born with them, grew up with them, like a lot of the same things as them, have the same hobbies as them, and have the same values as a lot of them.

But does that make me a millennial???

Aww I was gonna compare to caring about "generations" to believing in astrology.

Although, there is one relevant fact about "Millennials". They seem to be the only "generation" that isn't trying to convince everyone that climate science is a sham, so I guess they're technically the best generation

Nah

At the end of the day generational labels are dumb, and someone who is 28 shouldnt be lumped in the same category as a 10 year old.

The great depression and then WW2 really formed a sold generational group because a lot of people delayed having kids during the depression and then had tons of them when the war was over. So you had the "greatest generation" as the people that had gone through all the shit of the depression and the war and the baby boomers who grew up as the children of the veterans.

But today things are a lot muddier obviously. People have children at different ages and there hasn't been some massive transformational event like the depression or WW2 to shape a whole generation.

By "millenial" generation they basically mean kids that grew up with computers and the internet. I was born in 86 and you and I TC are the very last group of people that can even remember a time before everyone had the internet and cell phones.

As far as I'm concerned there are 90s kids, REAL 90s kids, and Millennials. I'm a REAL 90s kid. Older and younger gens can work out what they are. IMO Millennials are an ideological subgroup that never learned to grow up, doesn't matter what their age is, which is why a lot of people don't want to be labeled in with them.

Why do people on the internet try so desperately to disassociate themselves with being a millennial? "Kids are annoying!" Many say, while being 25. I've never been one to say "I'm so old" in my 20's, and now that I've just turned 30 I'm still feeling the same way.

You're a millennial TC, embrace it. Don't be ashamed.

I'm more or less pointing out little differences. Since he was born in 90, he would have experienced the SNES five or six years later while you born in 94 would have been more exposed to the Sega Saturn, and PS1.

Mortal Kombat on SNES is the earliest game I remember playing. My brother had a PS1 and my first console was N64.

I had exposure to all SNES was just limited.

I was born in 89, I ended up being exposed to the NES when it was already a dead system, I didn't play much NES games until years later. Later on I got to play on the genesis, and then eventually the N64 & Gameboy (which I think everyone did at the time).

Pokemon was such a big hit.

I'm '82. I'm tail end of Gen X.

I have zero in common with millennials. Every time there's some article written about the cultural touchstones that were a part of millennial's lives, their childhood, the state of the world they grew up in, etc. None of that holds true for me or anyone else born in that same period.

No one had the internet growing up. It didn't exist. A very few had it at home by senior year (99-00).
Papers were still turned in hand written because most people also didn't have pcs yet either.
No cell phones.
The first porn you ever saw was still print and movie on crappy VHS that had been duplicated 50 times.
9-11 and the war that followed were not part of our childhood or teenage years. We were all adults by then.
I remember being made to watch the Berlin Wall coming down on live tv.
I remember Hands Across America in 1986. I remember standing in the middle of the street downtown with my mother and aunt in that huge ass line. I vividly remember it.

I am not a damn millennial.

i was born in 87. so an "early" millennial.

i once took a quiz about this sort of thing and got like 5% millenial
and it labeled me silent or something generation.

my lack of motivation and lazyness (which has improved since the worst days)
is kinda connected to millennial.

when it comes to technology
im sort of generation x in attitude.
i try to keep up on pc tech, but I never had cellphones, ipads, tablets, when I go to banks i struggle to keep up with the changing chip to scanning, to whatever stuff -_-

and for social issues
my attitude is like everyones grandparents lol.

I remember taking some quiz a few years back that labeled me as the silent generation from the 20s too. Can't remember what site it was though. Probably the same one you took.

I read the local weekly newspaper, I can live without a cell phone and mine is a pay as you go one anyway which I keep turned off unless I'm away from home for emergency. My social views are rather conservative. My only social media outlet is this site if can even be called that. I'm not interested in some office job or the college degree that's required for it. I make enough to survive with a little extra left over. That's all I need. I'm happy. Idk if that's laziness. Lord knows my mother sees it as such.
