New characters, new ship, in between Enterprise and TOS... hmm, I hope these characters are, idk, well developed and interesting.

Things I like.
1. Production value. No more cardboard sets or cheesy special effects.
2. Good actors. Some of the actors I've seen I personally like and hopefully they won't ham the story up too much.

Things I don't like.
1. Prequelitis. Prequels just plain suck. Case in point there's not going to be any buildup between the Klingons and the Federation because we all know no matter what it ends in a war.
2. Those aren't Klingons. If they're supposed to be there better be some sort of mutant offshoot or maybe Time Travelers otherwise they don't make sense with how they look.
3. The bad Star Trek. This show is a continuation of the Abrams Star Trek which I personally don't like.
4. Bad marketing. Paying a subscription fee for a service I don't want for one show just isn't worth it. I'd rather just wait a couple of days and stream it for free from another free website.

The movies changed the timeline, so anything can happen.

Also it was clever to put it 10 years before Kirk – you can have all the things from the original series without Kirk's shadow hanging over everyone.

related to new movies

No real excitement from me atm. The new movies miss the point of star trek and just felt like space action movies. I haven't seen the latest one though, but I'm not expecting it to be much different.

This is my reservation about it. If it's only on All Access, then, well, I'm not going to pay to watch that and nothing else.

Still, though, I'm glad there's a new Trek show.

To be fair, the Klingons of the movies and TNG-on are radically different from the Klingons of the original series, so it's not as if changing the design of aliens is a new thing for Star Trek.

They eventually retconned and explanation for the original change, but the real reason for it basically boiled down to "Ehh, they look cooler this way". Which is probably the logic behind the new change (and assuming they don't spell out an in-universe reason right away).

The only explanation I know about is from DS9 when worf just says that something happened to all Klingons and they they don't speak of it. Was there more to it than that?

I'd honestly be surprised if it didn't suck at this point. They clearly have no clue what star trek was about.

In the show Enterprise (the prequel one) they established that genetically enhanced humans (part of Kahns group) attacked a Klingon ship. The Klingons fearing that humans were using genetic super soldiers ended up using some of the enhanced human DNA to make Klingon super soldiers. But it backfired creating a super plague that was going to wipe out the Klingon race. One of the side effects of the plague was mutating Klingons into looking more like humans (just like the ones in the original series) A cure was found but not before the plague had mutated the entire Klingon race. At least that's the basics that I can remember.

On another note I'm not hating this new show. I'm certainly interested and will give it a fair shot. And while I do think the new Klingons look hooky and they definitely screw the lore up a bit I'm still hoping that this show will give some explanation to why they look so different from the other versions we've seen.

New link since the ones in the OP are down.

And since this is going to be before the 'Star Trek' reboot/temporal timeline, I wonder if we will see George Kirk (James Father).
That if the TV show and Movies are in the same shared uni (they supposed to be)...

EDIT: Sorry, it says 'Ten' years before TOS...so I guess it still could take place in the new timeline.

One would think that CBS would want as much free exposure for the trailer as possible, seeing as it's a vehicle to drive All Access subs, but I guess not.

Why would we expect racist fucks like cbs to understand marketing in 2017? Lol

If it didn't have the Star trek title I'd think it was a Mass Effect spin off, not necessarily bad. Don't like the look of the Klingons at all though, I feel like the forehead ridges are just too iconic to change now.

Is Canadian a race?

Actually the way they wrote it, "based on geolication" is even worse. That's discrimination based on where I'm from. That's a pretty nasty one.

Likely scenario:
Moderate success on Netflix in most of the world.
CBS All Access gets all of seventeen new subscribers.
Far more than $6 per month (or $102, given those 17 new subscribers) gets spent issuing DMCA takedown notices to Dailymotion and Youtube, and harassing ISPs over torrent IPs.

LMAO. This has to be satire.

Why? Trailers are free and without license or contact, so there is no contractual obligation to be American pigs. So they must just be doing it for fun.
Also bonus, their unwieldy cock is so large, they are slamming it on every YouTube video that is trying to give their trailer the audience it should have had.
