RIP. Whenever I couldn't decide what to listen to I would put on Audioslave. One of the best voices in rock and he will be missed.

Shut the fuck up.

you're such a little kid. he's a rock star who helped popularized grunge. I'm not pointing any fingers but it's a valid possibility.

I never really pegged cornell as a huge drug guy

certainly possible, but I'd be a little surprised.

RIP man.

He was a pretty private guy so all I recall him sharing was he was a heavy drinker but got sober.

He even talked about his sobriety at a show I seen him play in Ann Arbor about 6 years ago.

For a moment I thought maybe it was Autoerotic Asphyxiation, but him singing In My Time Of Dying to close the show just can't be coincidental. He was saying bye.

He was the lead singer of Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave and a few other bands. He had a set of pipes on him.

Depression/mental illness is a killer, that's for sure. Nothing about it is logical or sound, it really warps your mind. No one even knows that he was suffering or for how long, so this really seems like it's completely out of nowhere.

I never got depressed celebrities. Every single aspect of my life would be fixed/perfect right now if I had a million dollars. Every single one. I'm not a people person anyway, so if all of my financial stress went away, I'd be perfect. But I guess no one can understand the mind of another person. Oh well. Hope he finally found peace.

As a Seattle native that was in his early 20's when Grunge hit, following him, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Green River, etc around small bars in Seattle (Rock Candy, the Underground) this is devastating.

All my adult life has been lived to the tunes of Chris Cornell.

I think most people think like that, but existential nihilism is a bitch. Basically, you will more than likely become more unhappy the more successful you are/the more you have, since in life the struggle of it is what keeps you distracted from how pointless it all is and how none of it really matters. There's pushing for your goals and feeling upset that they're out of reach, then there's getting everything you want and realizing that it still doesn't make you happy or give your life any sort of real meaning. You'll just be sitting there like "Okay, what now?" That shit is pretty damn depressing on its own.

Sometimes all of the money in the world cannot alter one's brain chemistry. You are right - we can never truly understand what it's truly like to be in another one's mind. Sometimes that person might not even know what they are truly feeling until it's too late. Mental illness is a serious and sometimes horrifying thing.
