I think it was grunge or something, same as nirvana etc. And another question is that genre, the soundgarden genre your favorite?

They were kind of a gunge/metal mix. A lot of their early stuff was pure metal, and when they became a gunge band they still kept a bit of that metal in their music.

As for my favorite genre, not really. I like metal, but usually the faster, more aggressive stuff. Even in the 90's I preferred alternative to grunge.

I don't think anyone knows of a specific reason but Kurt Cobain was a severe manic depressive with a heroin problem. Not stable. Was probably overwhelmed and decided to end it.

There are conspiracy theories that suggest he was murdered, but like most theories, there is no hard evidence of that.

I'm not really a fan of grunge for some reason....maybe its because good grunge(nirvana, etc) is played to hell and back and the bands that spawned from that suck as nickelback are pure trash.

But, as hip as it sounds, the bands that laid the groundwork for grunge(a good chunk of the bands discussed in the book "our band could be your life" were much more interesting.
