I didn't even watch once I saw Moore gave up 8 runs so I missed the potential comeback. It's such a Giants-y thing to blow the game after that. Strickland needs to get himself suspended again.

I was going to joke about Strickland but he's having actually a pretty solid season. I guess he's one of those guys I'll just always remember as being shitty because he got owned so much in the playoffs, like how Pujols destroyed Brad Lidge's reputation

What the fuck? They've played extremely well and there's a very high chance that they at least get a Wild card (play .500 from here and they'd still win 90 or something) but come on guys. The best in the West thing is hardly wrapped up. Even second best in the west is still a fight even though the Rockies beat the diamondbacks tonight

Yeah I just took exception to the fact that we're apparently supposed to accept that they're better than th Dodgers who they're only up on by half a game. So far three of the four best NL teams are in the west. If the Cubs can't get it together it may stay that way too

I just remembered that Tim Tebow is in A-ball and looked up his stats. He's pretty bad overall and basically horrible based on his difference in age from the rest of his competition. He has a decent walk rate though.

Yeah I said at the time there was no way he was gonna ride a minor league bus, but here he is, still going. He has no shot at ever being an MLB player (outside of the likely inevitable publicity stunt in September) but he's still going.

How do you guys feel about the Golden Knights draft (assuming you even knew about it)? They took David Schlemko from the Sharks and then traded him to the Canadiens. He wasn't the greatest Shark but he was a good guy and I'll miss seeing him play.

I didn't watch the NBA draft and I don't know anything about the prospects to know if the Kings did well or not. But I know enough about the Kings to assume they didn't do well.

I have no idea why they took Haula + Tuch from the Wild (and gave the wild a draft pick lolol) instead of Dumba, Scandella, or Staal, when all 3 would have been a better choice

I feel like they missed a lot of good opportunities in order to be flexible. they got some decent picks, but they missed out on good players who would have been more valuable than the picks they got in the first place

De'Aaron Fox is a good pick, but the Kings will find a way to ruin him and then trade him for nothing in 2 years

In my opinion Fox is the best player in the draft, so they did well

I don't know much about the draft prospects, but it felt like a bad night for the Nuggets. The Jimmy Butler trade felt like a repeat of the Boogie trade - bad return, a guy the Nuggets probably wanted, and a team that isn't a factor in the West playoff race turning a West team into a potential playoff team. The Nuggets got Trey Lyles, and I didn't understand at first why people were all upset, then I realized I was thinking of Trey Burke. And then I realized Trey Burke also kind of sucks, but less.

With Lyles and their first-rounder Tyler Lydon, they just added more power forwards who can't play defense. I've read that Lydon was the fattest player at the combine, or at least had the highest record BF%. I'm not sure how they'll fit into the rotation or if they are planning a trade or something, but it doesn't look good at the moment.

I was excited at the possibility of seeing the Nuggets return to the playoffs next season, but that's looking a lot more dubious. They might jump ahead of Memphis and Portland with a full season of running their offense through Jokic, but Minnesota and New Orleans with full seasons of Butler/Cousins might jump ahead of Denver. The Kings and Lakers also look to be on the rise too, even if they still finish below the Nuggets next year. The Lakers are probably going to be a perennial playoff team whenever Paul George ends up there.

So basically, barring a splashy trade or free agent signing, I see the Nuggets as having a one or two year window of being a 7 or 8 seed, and then they'll fall back to being a mediocre team full of capable but flawed players who aren't good enough to get them into the playoffs and not bad enough for an impact lottery pick.

a sports guy on the radio said the 28th pick in the NBA draft is roughly the equivalent of a 6th-7th rounder in the NFL draft, in terms of the likelihood that the player will pan out. is that true, or a hot take?
