The Republicans wanted this, so propped Trump up so they could secure secret relations with Russia.

Trump will eventually be impeached, and with him, everyone will assume ties with Russia will have been cut. But the GOP will continue acting with Russia behind the scenes with the network the Trump campaign initiated.
