Before when you wanted a doctor appointment, they booked a doctor, I would know who it was. I could choose not to have that doctor etc.

Now they have this "on call" system, you are booked a time, you go there and the doctor that is free will take you.

There is one doctor at my center I don't want to meet, I took care of his mother that had dementia and he is also a really crappy doctor in the sense of "bedside manner".

He is one of the doctors today on call, so to be sure I won't get him, I need to call on Wednesday.
