I'd probably just stick with a Switch because I think Nintendo will be porting all the Wii U games to that console eventually.

I'd say if you can find it for $200 or less, as long as you find a good 10 to 15 games for it, sounds better than a Switch purchase. Right now the Switch is in a pretty long drought, so I'd recommend finding a Cheap Wii U now, then getting the Switch during the holidays or sometime next year once bundles are available and games start releasing at a better pace.

That's God knows how many years from now. It's nowhere near GOAT right now, and unless they announce a lot at E3, it may not even come remotely close until the end of next year, and by then TC could have just bought a Wii U for cheap with at least two dozen good games, then purchase the Switch when it goes on sale.

It's worth it for BoTW and Bayonetta 2.

If you can find a used one in decent condition yes. The Wii U is a modern dreamcast. Not a bad system by any means and it does have a really great library of games to pick from.

Besides give it a decade and it'll be a collector's item like the dreamcast is now.

Definitely not true. You can easily find one for $200. Potentially less on Ebay.

Wait for E3 to see if they port Wii U games to the Switch. If they don't, then go for it imo.

Used Wii Us are absurdly overpriced. They tend to run $200 to $250. I can't see how anyone would go for that over a brand new Switch for $300, especially since Switch already has a better version of the Wii U's best title (MK8). Wouldn't be surprised if it gets ports of all the good Wii U titles, just so Nintendo can sell them to a wider audience.

$200 there for a refurb. Where are you getting that it's more than a Switch?

Well it was as much as Switch is now when new. At least it's consistent in being expensive. ðâ€

What sense does it make to only look at a single store when trying to call me wrong? Again, definitely false and he just confirmed it. Sometimes they get even lower on ebay.

And I'd definitely argue that the Wii U has more to offer now until mid 20118 at the earliest than the Switch. Not missing out on Zelda, Splatoon has a new story mode but the online feels incredibly similar enough, the Wii U has Xenoblade 1 AND X to counter 2 (assuming it doesn't get delayed), it has Hyrule Warriors which is probably more appealing to most than a FE Warriors game, and there's several other exclsuvies on the Wii U.

TC would only be missing out on Mario Odyssey, and I wouldn't say it's worth enduring the half year drought for if he's undecided like he is.

That's not even to mention Virtual Console. It has every major Nintendo platform all in one. It doesn't have every game, but it has a lot.

Because the Wii U is dead now so all of its valuables are up for the taking. The Switch is like a stubborn old man who may die sometime soon allowing you to take what he has, but for now he hands them out piecemeal.

The only thing TC would miss out on by not buying a Switch right now is Mario Odyssey which isn't coming out for another half year, and probably not worth buying a system for just that one game. The Switch will definitely be better in the long run, but the Wii U a cheaper option with dozens of games to buy, hundreds more with Virtual Console, and no droughts since it's already dead. For us Switch owners, the last two really good games are both TC could still play on a Wii U, and I wouldn't consider ARMS a system seller by any means.

With a Wii U, he pays less to immediately get Smash, Mario Kart, 3D World, Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade X, EVERY Zelda game with the exception of literally 2 or 3 iirc, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin, Wonderful 101, Fatal Frame, all the Virtual console games, etc etc. Versus paying $100 to $150 more for a console that has Zelda and Kart (both of which you can play on the Wii U).

THAT is how someone could go for a Wii U over a Switch makes perfect sense. Switch is a great investment, but the Wii U is the console that has more immediate gratification for less. Especially since a lot of Wii U games are dirt cheap now.
