ure.

For safety I'm gonna spoiler tag this, it's from season 3.

So there's this one episode poking a lot of fun at college students and how they fill out consent forms before fooling around etc. Kimmy's realization at the end of the episode was pretty spot on, IMO: They're kids. So yeah, sure, political correctness is good and important and all, but they're so new to the entire thing that they can't really apply it moderately.

My (very feminist) friend has a similar explanation of what she calls "baby feminists". Essentially, it's like a honeymoon phase where you're so caught up in a new, welcoming culture that you fill up with emotions and just do everything too much. Similar to how a newly formed young couple will be that really annoying "no you hang up first", "no you do it", just having eyes for each other and dismissing everything else sort of thing. And it applies quite well to the PC/"SJW"/whatchamacallit culture on college campuses. At least as far as I can tell.

Maybe this is why the Trump people are crazy online. Their first time interacting with a large group and they want to be apart of something.

That is so very sad.

Interesting take. The idea of being respectful of people of all identities is infact a culture at its infancy

Yeah, and I usually find that people who have been feminists/PC/whatever longer are usually less loud and more reasonable in their rhetoric, etc.

When I started college in 09, I felt like everyone came to college ignorant of that stuff and were educated about it by the time they graduated. When I graduated, it seemed like first years were already aware of that stuff. Learning things younger is fine, but it seemed like it was more just like an Internet circlejerk thing that established their base of knowledge rather than actual academic sources which tend to present a more nuanced picture. So I came to college, learned completely new things I knew nothing about, and was able to come to the conclusion that I agree with most of the sociology/gender studies dogma, but if you come to college with preconceived notions, it just sorta reaffirms and radicalized you.

In regard to the spoilers, consent forms are clearly there to protect men in case of rape accusations, so I don't get why MRAs and red pillers would even want to make them an issue.

Very well said.

A lot of people think that higher education is all about learning new things, and since you can do that on the internet now, what's the point? Well, higher education is also about information literacy, learning how to learn, how to find, scrutinize, and use information possible. That gets passed by by a lot of people.

Pc culture is basically nationalism in my mind. The further you get into identity politics the crazier you get. They don't get any less crazy after college. They just don't show it.

Well, I disagree.
And it could very well get just as crazy after college, if that's when you first discover your new subculture. That happens to everyone. It's just that in college, people are also really young and confident and think that they're adults ready to handle the world. So it's sort of a multiplicative effect, I guess.

Someone who goes to college migh have a better worldview than some farmer boy, but thats not saying much. Some graduates are insufferable too.

Well, I disagree.

Do you disagree with my stance that racial identity politics is akin to nationalism?

I made a topic about it on 261.

College is where it starts. The echo chamber effect of modern and social media makes it worse.

This is very much a problem

Agreed. This basically happened to a relative of mine the instant they went to college. It's like they became another person.

Online communities definitely set them up before hand though, and then continue to foster it.

Yes, I do. I can see similarities, but as a whole I would still have to disagree.

However, I completely agree that it (like any other ideology these days) suffers from the echo chamber effect.
