You really have to read the comics to get it. Start with the first volume when goku is a kid, and just let yourself be absorbed in the universe

Dragon Ball Z is supposed to be the end, hence the Z. But that's also the most popular part of Dragon Ball. The Original series had more fighting techniques and martial arts, and goofiness. While Z is more Beams and Yelling. That's how they arguments kinda go, just not as exaggerated as I typed.

It's just Z, while is good on its own rights.. It'd be better to start from Dragon Ball so you can see Goku's whole journey rather than his Son, with him popping around every now and again. Starting from Dragonball, you also understand a lot of Fridge Knowledge and all those tropes.

I was introduced to it when i was like 14. Fell in love with it immediately. So, i think the biggest reason for me is the nostalgia.

It also has sci fi, insane power of characters though i think they are doing poor job making it clear just how powerful they really are. When i watch One punch man fights they really make the characters look like super powerful, but in Db/z/s fights they really don't look like planet busters. Just small explosion here and there.

Z is great if you want badass space warriors blowing shit up and fighting.

True. The best fights in Z were always evenly matched. 17/Piccolo and Goku/Majin Vegeta spring to mind.

Totally false. The manga is boring. The anime (both DB and DBZ) is great.

You can probably watch Kai after DB. It's basically Z but with most of the filler removed.

Other users can chime in on this, I don't know if you'd lose much by watching Kai instead of Z

It has intense action, the original series (dragon ball) was funny and it was interesting to watch the characters grow up, and it kind of inspires you to try as hard as you can to achieve your goals
