Richter: Tribute!? You steal men’s souls, and make them your slaves!
Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions…
Richter: Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!
Dracula: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk… Have at you!

Granted there's a tad more to it and it's a little out of context but in FFXII.
Vayne to Ashe: "Who are you?"

That about sums up everything you need to know about story connections right there. That's perfectly fitting for that game because there really is that much of a disconnect between your main cast and the bad guys/plot.

"If I'm the wall you need to scale, I'll take you on. You may find it so high you'll never think about trying again. But I'll give you a taste".

Yakuza 5 spoilers. Plot twist: It's actually Kiryu, the protagonist, who says that (while bleeding from a bullet wound, no less). Kiryu is a middle-aged, well-established badass and the final boss is kind of a young upstart so the script is flipped in this case and Kiryu sounds like the final boss. I know this doesn't apply to the topic but that's one of my favorite lines from Kiryu.

"I don't think I'm a god. I AM a god!"

Not a unique line, but I love the delivery on Albert's lines in the Ouroboros, especially when revealing his A-Trans & that he's revived the pseudoroids..

Thinking back on it, the Megaman series had some great final boss moments from the Zero & ZX games. My two favorites would have to be Z1, when Copy X finally shows up with all his bravado about the "utopia" he's built, by treating reploids as second class citizens, then the ending with X going into he's tired after fighting so long, then Zero just tells him to take a break & he'll handle things, while staring down a whole legion of pantheons. Then the whole scene with Weil attempting to convince Zero he was a fake, & Omega was the true Zero. Also honorable mention to Weil seizing power by planting a bomb on Copy X, & framing the whole thing with "Master X was killed while valiantly fighting the resistance"; he truly played everyone there, & the real story is still mostly unknown in Z4.

The data of life is transferred from parent to child. That’s how it works. But we have no heirs, no legacy. Cloned from our father with the ability to reproduce conveniently engineered out. Fallout also had the great quote of "What happens to the Vault if we lose the best of a generation? What if we are the only safe place in the world? You just gave us back all these lives... I can't take the chance of losing them. I've made a lot of tough decisions since I took this position. But none of them harder than this one. You saved us, but you'll kill us. I'm sorry. You're a hero... and you have to leave."

"'I have a dream.' That one day every person in this nation will control their own destiny. A land of the truly free, dammit. A nation of action, not words, ruled by strength, not committee! Where the law changes to suit the individual, not the other way around. Where power and justice are back where they belong: in the hands of the people! Where every man is free to think - to act - for himself! Fuck all these limp-dick lawyers and chickenshit bureaucrats. Fuck this 24-hour Internet spew of trivia and celebrity bullshit! Fuck American pride! Fuck the media! FUCK ALL OF IT! America is diseased. Rotten to the core. There's no saving it - we need to pull it out by the roots. Wipe the slate clean. BURN IT DOWN! And from the ashes, a new America will be born. Evolved, but untamed! The weak will be purged and the strongest will thrive - free to live as they see fit, they'll make America ''great again!'' ...In my new America, people will die and kill for what they BELIEVE! Not for money. not for oil! Not for what they're told is right. Every man will be free to fight his own wars!

also this:
Helios: I should regulate human affairs precisely because I lack all ambition, whereas human beings are prey to it. Their history is a succession of inane squabbles, each one coming closer to total destruction.
JC Denton: In a society with democratic institutions, the struggle for power can be peaceful and constructive; a competition of ideologies. We just need to put our institutions back in order.
Helios: The checks and balances of democratic governments were invented because human beings themselves realized how unfit they were to govern themselves. They needed a system, yes, an industrial-age machine.
JC Denton: Human beings may not be perfect, but a computer program with language synthesis is hardly the answer to the world's problems.
Helios: Without computing machines, they had to arrange themselves in crude structures that formalized decision-making - a highly imperfect, unstable solution.

it's kind of painful rereading these ponderings seeing how completely our own system of checks and balances is failing to produce a result that lines up with what any of the population wants.

I think that's why some people don't understand why...that game gets so much praise. The dungeons are bland and the overworld is too vast, but in my opinion it easily has both the best story and the best versions of all the classic characters.

Respectfully, I disagree. Ever since TTS the Metal Gear Solid dialogue seemed to have gone out of its way to sound pseudo-poetic (something which I'm guessing it got from various animes), not to mention accentless. which just sets a very different tone and feels less 'real'.

But you know, that's just, like, my opinion, man.
