Truth be told, while i do like some things at these chain restaurants, this is just an excuse to not do better....They're basically saying "we're failing because people today like the taste of home made cooking and niche restaurants that aren't us...we're not going to make our menu better to compete...we're just going to spin it to make THEM look bad"....

TGIF, Ruby Tuesday, and Applebees are garbage tier food. The portions you get from them are overpriced.

tbf, while i think costume DLC is dumb, 5 bucks for a costume isn't much when compared to like 15 bucks for one meal....especially when you can take that 15 bucks, by some groceries and get several meals.

So like, someone with 20 extra bucks can buy Ryu's now costume, by a pack of chicken and some sauces, and make 2 or 3 meals.....or they can go to Applebees and get one meal for 12 Bucks + Ryu's costume >_>

And how do you know those people buying dlc already aren't?

If companies want to complain that people aren't buying there product there's one of two reasons.

People don't have spare money for that product or the product isn't worth the money.

Now wages have been stagnating so there is room for some people to paid more so they have more money to spend outside of needs or the company needs to do something different.

Video games and dlc have some of the highest returns for money spent for entertainment value. It's not really surprising the industry is doing really well when a lot of mid to low income workers don't have s lot of money to spend outside of their bills.

Just because you might have an extra few bucks at the end of the month to spend on something fun doesn't mean you're well off. you shouldn't have to live miserably. you seriously think buying a 5 dollar DLC or a 15 dollar game is the difference maker here? A lot of people set aside a small budget for fun because going through life without a little enjoyment here and there is a horrible thing to do...They decided the DLC is worth more than the Applebees dinner. These restaurants shouldn't be blaming THEM...

This is not an income issue. Shit like Chipotle, Burger joints and whatnot are not significantly cheaper than these casual restaurants. Even with cooking at home. Organic stuff is what's gaining the most traction, which is usually more expensive. And stuff like delivery fees and still having to tip puts the cost pretty near it, if not higher sometimes.

It's more about speed, convenience and trends. If income was a larger factor, McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, and Taco Bell wouldn't be facing the same declines.

i mean the food shouldn't be compared to other places. some people just like certain menu items there. There is nothing wrong with liking applebees....Its like Hometown Buffet isn't the best quality, but it still has regular diners who are able to enjoy their food...the fried chicken at a mom and pops restaurant probably tastes better, but if someone decided they wanted it from KFC that day, so be it...

but if a large group of people (large enough to make or break your franchise) have decided that the food or dining experience is better elsewhere....its not their fault. Its time for you to adapt to it. Change the menu, produce better food overall, make the experience better....Blaming millennials for your inability to market yourself or produce better quality won't accomplish a damn thing.
