Or was this only applying to democrats and politicians that didn't endorse Trump?

Well, Gingrich didn't get into office, so mission accomplished? >_> More seriously, clearly the swamp was drained since instead of going with Washington insiders Trump picked a lot of guys so outside that they have no business being inside. Ben Carson, for instance. Betsy DeVos. Etc, etc.

So "draining the swamp" didn't actually mean removing politicians that aren't doing their job, are bribed and corrupted, etc, but just allowing Trump to hire his own cronies?

Pretty much every person he picked for his cabinet is the swamp.

He specifically used it to reference Washington insiders. Does he have a lot of those right now? No, he does not. His SoS is Rex Tillerson, who had no priors. His SoT is Steve the Munchkin, who had no priors. SBA? That's Linda McMahon, no priors. HUD? Carson, no priors. Education? DeVos, no priors. And keep mind that these so-called "cronies" are a lot of people had little to no interaction with in the past. Sure, he's a friend of the McMahons, but SBA is basically a token position which was previously filled by another businesswoman.

Except no, because almost none are Washington insiders and he repeatedly promised to get rid of Washington insiders.

Probably the hundredth time I've made that joke. It's totally my thing. (And technically it was cribbed from part of a SNL gag, and joke appropriation is also my thing.)

So, yes?

I'm curious if his supporters knew what "drain the swamp" meant...

I honestly thought it meant clearing Washington from the corrupt and incompetent politicians and I didn't even vote for him.

He was very clear on what he meant by it. If your interpretation didn't match, it's because you weren't listening to what he said.

You could also compare and contrast to Obama's picks. Ajit Pai, the current FCC chair, has -- to the best of my recollection -- never served as a lobbyist. By contrast, Tom Wheeler -- the previous FCC chair -- was notably a big-time lobbyist.

You're right - I wasn't. I also wasn't listening to Hillary either.

Yeah. One was for net neutrality and the other isn't.

Any guesses on who I like more?

Also, have you looked at the article I linked? Good stuff.

Eh, even if you listened to Hillary it might not have done much good because she's pretty clear on that whole public positions and private positions thing.

Semicasm. Facetious or flippant also works.

Did you even read the article or just avoid it because it doesn't paint Trump in a holy light?

Well, Trump has failed to announce candidates for the vast majority of the Executive Branch. So in that there's less people, he's drained it. Of the the dozen people he's put into the various departments half of them are former Goldman Sachs investment bankers so the "freshness" of the people involved is lower than its ever been.

I glanced at it until I got bored. Nothing seemed particularly interesting or damning. Between all of them, I think I only noticed one listed as a lobbyist whereas many of the others had "employed lobbyists" or the more ambiguous "connected to lobbyists." I also scrolled down and noticed that it failed to mention Trump's personal connection to the McMahons or previous business dealings with WWE. In short, though, not Washington insiders.

Actually, it's fresher than it's ever been. Almost nobody is even a lobbyist and most aren't politicians.

I specifically stated that a good chunk of them are former Goldman Sachs employees. I'm not even talking about how Rex Tillerson was the former CEO of ExxonMobil or that Betsy DeVos is just a millionaire lobbyist who basically bought her position. And we're literally talking about twenty two people. There's supposed to be six hundred and sixty two.
