Does Applebees still offer half price appetizers after 10 pm? I remember years ago me and my friends would go see a movie, smoke and then hit up Applebees afterwards and pig out for like 15 bucks a guy...alcoholic drinks included. And the restaurant was packed with a young crowd.

TGI Fridays is garbage. And so is Olive Garden. My girlfriend used to waitress at a Friday's and let me in on all their dirty little secrets. In short, never order the Jack Daniel's sauce. I've never eaten there since.

BWW I'm surprised to hear about because the one by me is packed every Saturday night.

I actually find myself eating out more and more due to time constraints and rising cost of groceries.

Fridays is the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. Never again. Olive Garden is also crap - I mean, it's not like anything is 'bad' but nothing is special there.

Fridays was one of only TWO TIMES I ever not tipped due to how OVERWHELMINGLY bad the service was - from...EVERYONE involved. - And the place wasn't even busy. Usually if a place is busy, I understand commotion or long wait times, and am ok with it.

I really don't let anything effect the tip unless I get yelled at by the waiter or they COMPLETELY ignore my demands the entire time.

I had asked my Fridays waiter for something...(forget what) but after like 10 minutes of him disappearing I finally spot him dancing with another worker. I was like "fuckin really?"

- Chilli's is underrated ITT. It's not great by any stretch, but it's the best of the chains mentioned ITT. Still the food is very average and you're better off eating at a nice local place.

- BWW was a good place to hang out for sports a few years ago with cheap beer and wings. As others have touched on their prices are just too high now for the quality of food.

- Applebees and Olive Garden are shit. No one will miss them when they're gone.

I always felt like Olove Garden got a bad rap. It's not the best of the best but there are legit things on the menu. Braised Beef and Tortellini is great, risotto balls also great, and I had this one sausage dish once that I was impressed with but I think it was a limited-time thing.

You can do better, sure, but it's not like I'd keep driving if it was the only restsurant t this exit and I was in the panhandle of Florida with stomach rumbling and who knows how many miles to the next exit.

How is wanting to be more responsible by saving money and eating food you make yourself a bad thing? While I wouldn't wish for the servers at those restaurants to lose their livelyhoods, of course, it's ridiculous to get mad at millennials for it.

It's like blaming millennials for preferring to use Netflix or other streaming services for Blockbuster going out of business, which I'm sure SOMEBODY tried to pin on young people. But that's the thing. Everybody hates on young people for being different but that's how societal norms changed. It's that simple, but people tend to forget they weren't carbon copies of their parents. Millennials are growing up with new and different services, products, cultures and circumstances.

They're geared towards technology and whatever else is breaking ground. Casual dining restaurants aren't a good alternative to cooking at home or, when in a pinch, eating fast food. Services like Blue Apron, that ship out all the ingredients necessary for a meal for you to cook yourself, have the right idea.

they're basically a chicken tender in bite size pieces...that isn't a wing...wing meat has a different flavor.

Still delicious though

Wings are just a vector for delivering hot sauce anyway.
If McDonalds had a "hellfire and agony" sauce, I'd get McNuggets far more often.

Damn, some of you are so cringy with your hate of these places. Same with when it comes to fast food like McDonalds. Like, we get it, you don't like it lol. But some do because it's not that serious.

Regardless, I posted this in the last topic. This isn't necessarily about income.

DoctorVader posted...
This is not an income issue. Shit like Chipotle, Burger joints and whatnot are not significantly cheaper than these casual restaurants. Even with cooking at home. Organic stuff is what's gaining the most traction, which is usually more expensive. And stuff like delivery fees and still having to tip puts the cost pretty near it, if not higher sometimes.

It's more about speed, convenience and trends. If income was a larger factor, McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, and Taco Bell wouldn't be facing the same declines.

I heard that Burger King and Taco Bell have actually seen increasing sales in recent years

Thank God I love taco bell

Also lol at all the edgelords itt. "Olive Garden isn't real food."

lol stay angry

i was raised on good italian food so I feel qualified in saying Olive Garden is bland garbage

i don't understand the point in saying that though. Of course it isn't authentic top of the line Italian Food. But some people like the taste. it doesn't mean they won't like your homecooked food better....Its like I can go make a great chicken sandwich from scratch. hand breaded, fried, assembled.....Much better than McDonalds...it doesn't mean there isn't a spot for a nice McChicken every now and then.

But it doesn't cost you $15 to buy a McChicken that you can make better for less.

B-dubs used to be good when it was smaller 10 years ago.

But now, since it got big and chainey, their food sucks and is overpriced.

They just got too big without trying to improve their food.

And yuck, Applebees? You mean, meals that have already been cooked that are just heated up and served to you like hospital food? no thanks.

Guilty, I suppose. BWW is way overpriced. Cost me 50 bucks for 2 beers, a burger and a small sample platter. All of it was bland except the wings. Applebee's isn't that good either. From the things I've tried both places, aside BWW's wings, I can make it better myself - and only because I've never tried making wings cuz I'm not a wings guy.

There's just no reason to go there when I can make it better myself, or get it elsewhere for the same price or cheaper and better.

Step it up.

Yeah I went there for a Redskins/Cowboys game this past fall and the BBQ wings were just covered in sauce, and just the fried bread/skin with little chicken meat on the actual wings. Fries were soggy. The mixed drinks we got were 80% mixer/20% booze.

And it was around $45 bucks for that crap.

But back in 2010-ish, BWW used to be very good. Quality wings, food, etc.

If you live in an urban area, chances are that you can get local joints which serve better food at same or lower prices than the chains. There's no appeal to Friday's or Applebees or BWW. They have no character. It's just a mass-marketed, bland, manufactured experience.

Millennial a really do have thin skin.

There are a ton of comments so far whining about "what's wrong with wanting to eat healthier and cheaper" or "why do they blame millenials for everything".

The article doesn't say anything bad about millenials nor is it at all meant to be negative. Businesses have always kept an eye on trends and tried to adjust and adapt. There's nothing wrong with saying X age group doesn't like service A, instead they prefer service B.
