Turns out the misogynistic group was the minority of the haters and people just didn't care for an awful looking remake with a gimmick.

Women and men alike enjoy Wonder Woman. If the "we hate women on film" narrative had any real meat to it WW would be a prime target. Instead it's a major success critically and commercially.

Being all female probably helped the new ghostbusters more than it hurt it. People had to pretend to like it to not be viewed as sexist. If it was the same exact movie, but an all male remake, it would have been hated universally.

Ghostbusters failed because of that stupid internet war where both sides were exaggerating an average at best film. The people defending and the people attacking the film never even planned on seeing it. The film wasn't important the war it created was and that killed the movie before it was released. People who did all they could to ignore the stupid battle couldn't say anything without being attacked by both sides.

I've never watched a movie just because of a hot woman, but it certainly helps.

Like, the Underworld movies are way better because I'm in love with Kate Beckinsale. If it was someone I didn't have a crush on I probably would give them zero attention.

Also I saw the new Ghostbusters for the first time this weekend, and I liked it. It wasn't as good as the original, sure, but it was still a good movie. I don't get the hate.

Yeah she beautiful. While I liked the first two Underworld movies the later ones weren't as good but I kept watching them for her and for her character.

I thought people hated Ghostbusters cuz it was a crappy movie that was only remade so they could put women in it. If people like Wonder Woman because it's a good movie then how is that an indictment on some alleged misogynist sect of moviewatchers that didn't like Ghostbusters? Wouldn't it just suggest that people like good movies and dislike bad movies?

I'm not at all convinced the hate against Ghostbusters was because it was women in the main roles, but rather just because it was characters they liked being dropped for new ones. If the movie had been casted with people like Seth Rogan and Will Ferrell as the main cast members instead people would have probably been just as mad about it.
