We finally got a superhero crossover in a blockbuster film, and it wasn't even a bad one. People hear crossover and they think Godzilla vs King Kong, Aliens vs Predator, or Freddy vs Jason. They didn't think it was possible to do it justice. And DCU has nothing going for it yet (admittedly haven't seen wonder woman, but superman, Batman v superman, and suicide squad speak for themselves).
