8 y/o Mili Hernandez was DISQUALIFIED from a Nebraska Soccer Tournament beause she looked like a BOY.

She played under 11s for Omaha's Azzuri Cachorros girls club and helped her team reach the finals of the Springfield Soccer club girls tournament..but she was abruptly benched before they were able to take the field because the tournament organizers said she looked like a BOY despite Mili stating she prefers having short hair.

She said "Just because i look like a boy doesn't mean i am a boy. They don't have a reason to kick the whole club out. When my hair starts to grow i put it short because i've always had short hair. I didn't like my hair long"

Her father, Gerardo Hernandez proved with her insurance card that Mili was a girl and lists her gender as female but they still wouldn't reverse the decision

He was in shock after his daughter got booted and said "She was crying after they told us..They made her cry. It's what she likes. It's what she always wants to do, play soccer"

The organizers refused to comment on this..

Yes, but what 8yo doesn't look androgynous? They're going to regret that one with the full time social media piss-and-moaners we have these days and should have known better to exclude them once they provided documentation.

But that doesn't matter. The family provided legal documentation, so the organizers are definitely in the wrong.

I don't agree with what was done but why did it take the organizers this long to take action? Was it only because her team made it to the finals that some sore losers made the organizers look into a non-existing matter? And of course the organizers chose not to comment and instead have folks talk to their lawyers instead. There is no graceful way out of this mess.

She looks like a girl with short hair because well.... that's what she is. She shouldn't be banned unless I'm missing something.

At that age a boy and girl with similar hairstyles can often be indistinguishable.

I mean really girls and boys dont start to look notably different outside of cultural things like hairstyle and clothing until early puberty starts to hit and the testosterone widens the jaw and face of the male, while the girl stays mostly the same.

Then obviously the body changes.

More accurately is that all 8 year olds look like girls.

The boy is the one who most changes facially when testosterone starts to become active.

I dont think there is a 7-8 boy in the country who you couldnt grow his hair out and put him in pink and have him pass as a girl

She definitely looks like a boy from the headshot. The body might be different.

Most of them? Plus this isn't really androgynous, she just looks like a boy. Even if they put her in a wig, she would still look more like a boy than a girl although the hair does make her look unmistakably male.

Most young girls in my area look like .. well .. young girls. Even if you only look at their faces and heads, you can tell easily. The hair is usually a dead giveaway, with most of them having it at least shoulder length and/or tied up.

Then again, I've never really seen a girl with hair that short and even if she did have longer hair, her facial features looks quite boyish.

And the organizers took them this long to figure that out? I smell foul play afoot.

Aye. I think some sore losers didn't like her team making to the finals and had to make up some excuse to disqualify the entire team.
