May reminds me of a hunger games character. You know, the over-styled politicians from the capital district.

Anyway, you guys voted for brexit, aren't you toast either way?

I mean, technically only like 1/3 of us did, as so many didnt even bother voting to begin with. But it looks grim regardless, yes.

Thing is, by not voting, you basically vote to go along with whatever everyone else decides.

Of course it is. You may not be directly voting for them (unless you're in their constituency) but they lead the two major parties. If you're voting for either party you're voting for them to be in power.

This is the problem I have with British Democracy. In the US, I can pick my Congressman, and vote a different party for President should I choose. Trump might be a misguided fool, but I actually like my Republican congressman, and since both are elected separately, I can vote for him and not worry about voting Trump.

Calling the election now was smart.

Most people like the conservatives.

Everybody hates Corbyn including the labour party itself.

The only reason she may lose seats is because as I said earlier, the media has done a very strange and effective job at turning this into "May vs Corbyn" and not your local MP.

If they ha waited until 2020 and held an ellection then, the conservatives would become much weaker.

Yes because people turned it from "local seats" to "Do you love May!?"

Smart move by the liberal media but it's at the cost of local communities. You saw it in this topic. Nobody was thinking about conservatives or their local MP. They were thinking "Man I hate May!"

Blame Mays comments after the terrorist attacks, not other stuff. What she wants is terrifying enough to warrant it.

Besides, wasnt most media in strong support of her? The top papers were, as I recall.

The Sun too, seemed to be up Tories arse. Just seemed the popular ones supported her, save the guardian. But I avoid most newspapers myself.

i can't believe how may is still getting away with this

it's incredible. absolute denial at the fact she's fallen flat on her face, and there's no public outcry from the tories since they're scared they'll lose out even more in the next election

also the fact that she's spineless, soulless and uncompassionate, working with DUP who are the same

this sounds far too familiar to what's happening across the pond

DUP are far worse. Makes me feel sad for our Irish brethren who will be kept in the past and not able to (easily) take advantage of what we consider basic rights.

The DUP will get a lot out of this deal. It won't be like the lib dems.

It's smart of them to take it. The alliance and ability to mess with government > 10 seats

So how come all the Tory leaflets I got were about May, Corbyn and the other party leaders, while the leaflets from the other parties were about their local candidate? The nation media always talks about the party leaders, the Tories just decided to go along with them this time.
