I already never get to use my cool gear because I always go through the weaker stuff first :b having to pick between more items sounds like a waste.

Well, you run into Hestu south of Kakariko and there's a short sidequest you do for him, and then he explains about them.

Probably because you are just playing through this sticking as close to the main quest line as possible

Right, so, optional. Not really like I skimmed over it or forgot. If anything, I made going through the main quest a little more challenging by not having a billion weapons and tons of stamina and stuff.

Hyrule Castle is killing me.

This is without a doubt the hardest part of that game.

Again... because you hardly bothered to get any upgrades. I think the hardest part of the game is probably a different thing for each person since it depends on how powerful you are when you go into certain parts of the game. The common enemies and Yiga start becoming more difficult as you progress through the game, but I don't think the guardians change at all, and since Hyrule Castle is guardian-heavy that's probably why you're finding it so difficult. Granted, you didn't seem to have much trouble with any of the Divine Beasts and I don't think those have any dynamic difficulty either.

I can't make it through. I've tried a dozen times now. I'll have to go back into the world and try to get a better suit or something, maybe try getting more stamina. I have three days left to finish.

Do you even know that you can upgrade your armor? I don't remember you mentioning that at all

Nope. I've been wearing just the zora shirt and normal pants since the first beast, except for I wore girl clothes in garudo town and a fire shirt in Goron city.

I didn't even get the champions tunic until I finished all the memories (at least I'm pretty sure... because I've never worn it)

I might go upgrade stuff I guess. Sounds like a plan.

How did you not know that? Didn't you get the Great Fairy picture so you could have painter guy show up? Maybe I'm remembering that wrong and you only need a picture of the flower without having to free her.

yeah, I gave her the 100 rupees so I could talk to her/take her picture, but at the time she was like "sorry babe can't help you come back later k?"

and so I just never went back because I didn't even know how she was going to help me, and i guess i made it this far without needing it.

Yknow what would've been real legit? Having to fight an iron knuckle inside the castle. Like, that would be the only place in the whole game they show up.

The enemy variety in general was a letdown and the combat felt like a step back from TP and WW and hell...even SS in some ways.

The guardians are just plain annoying as hell to deal with, and no matter how far I got in the game or how powerful I became, they've yet to become "fun" to fight, like other tough monsters such as Lynels or Hinox.
Would have MUCH rather had the castle crawling with Darknuts and an Iron Knuckle miniboss in exchange for most of the damn guardians getting removed.

My experience with BotW;

First week- this game is crack.
After that- god no more shrines please
