the united States is the larger exporter of culture, whit Hollywood movies, Tv shows and musical artists, restaurantst and also having a high presence in videogames. Japan is a distant but powerful second with videogames and TV shows...however afther those 2 no country is clearly recognizable as the third pace when it comes to exporting of culture.

Recently China has been producing great movies and when it comes to live action they already stomp Japanese productions in quality of effects and box office.

Will china become a big culture exporter whitin the next 10 to 20 years? or will only the USA and Japan dominate whit no recognizable third place?

Nope.

China is best at copying, and as for cultural goods like music/tv/movies, nobody wants second hand ideas. Would you want to see Romeo and Juliet as depicted with Chinese influences? Naa.

China has food, tea, ancient history as their progenitors for their cultural export; things that can't be copied without losing value.

Don't see that happening in the near future. There's too much censorship. Give it time.

China already exports a ton of culture.

Unfortunately, 99% of that culture was stolen from other countries. :-P

Yes, I'm well aware of China's status as an ancient country that is integral to the history of the world and all of that.

But that was before the goddamn Communists.

I think it's already happened. You can't even walk down the street these days without seeing front yards filled with kids pretending to be gold farmers.

A lot of the Japanese culture that people like they copied from what France was doing back in the 70's and early 80's. Hell, they even copied American culture quite a bit. Ghost in the Shell is laughably similar to Blade Runner.

Unless you are talking about tentacle monster hentai, that is all original as far as I know.

First you build wonders to get great work slots then you generate the appropriate great person to fill the slot. This generates tourism to your civilization.

English works pretty much everywhere. I spent two months in Japan with a very basic understanding of the language. A lot of menus and signs have Furigana, or even English, so it's not necessary to have an N2 or N1 understanding of the language. There are online translators now, that for the most part, can get the point across. Lots of people go to China, Turkey, Russia, France (which are by far the most rude people when it comes to speaking to I've personally come across - they will not speak to you unless you try to speak French to them first) where those countries in some areas won't speak English at all. The languages of those countries would be equally as important to the people traveling to them.

Ever heard of Richmond, BC? That's in Canada, where the two official languages are English and French, and it is federal law that everything written must be in English or French, yet the Chinese population is so high there, that some areas are strictly for Chinese only. You can not read a word of anything in your own country, because it is not meant for you. And nobody takes action against it. How sad is that?
