Most of the exclusives are either timed or coming to PC and they didn't really show that many games that WOW'd me. But like I said, B- because it was solid just not spectacular.

Or the one year where Sony slammed Microsoft back in 2013 where they confirmed no "Always-On DRM" or preventing used games from being played on the PS4.

I didn't think any games here looked particularly good other than Ori, and that didn't even have any gameplay, which makes it feel like we won't be seeing it for quite a while. LIS reveal was also pretty cool, though if they're making a prequel and a sequel, I'm a bit worried they'll run it into the ground like Telltale did with TWD...

Can these Windows 10 games be made to play on Windows 7 or what?

no there were not.

and that's by design too. microsoft is pushing for microsoft exclusives, not Xbox. and i can dig that, assuming they don't try to lock everything down behind GFWL 2.0. i don't think that many are down with it, the conference just wasn't blowing people away. some games looked good, most games looked somewhere in the middle, and the ones that looked really good can be found elsewhere. everyone should walk away wanting a couple games that were shown but very few should walk away wanting an Xbox. personally i'd go with B- as a result - competent but not something that great.

it's more difficult to impress people because we live in an age where we see 2 or 3 cool new games every week. a platform holder is held to a higher standard because they need to get out there and sell you on a device. what was shown tonight that would move people who don't own an Xbox towards an Xbox, or push people to upgrade their existing Xbox?

Nothing they showed that was Exclusive looked to be AAA in any way, and they showed nothing to make me think that I need an XBox when I already have a PS4, with the exception of 4k touting, which is extremely overhyped right now due to the limited market of people who actually play around a 4k experience.

That's why I consider it a low tier conference.

Not a single triple A game unless you like racing.

The rest is timed exclusives that was worded misleadingly to create the illusion of an exclusive. The fact they ended on Anthem should have been a huge ding ding ding moment. The conference sucked.

most if not all of those are on PC too. hell, Cuphead's on Steam.
and even as far as console exclusivity goes, would be surprised if half of them stayed that way in a year's time.

I guess I rate the conferences more on how much I enjoyed them rather than whether or not there were actually a good show for the console. It was a good show to watch.

This if I view it all on exclusivity and how well it would bolster their business I'd walk away with three games that were worth talking about every year. Even I'm not that fucking cynical.

Well most of us don't have XBOX so we base it on whether the games will make us want to buy a console. With Sony and Nintendo, it's basically all jut about what the games look like individually, since we have those systems.

I have an Xbox and am really looking forward to those Indies, which looked like an amazing group. The Last Night may visually be the best looking game I've ever seen.

part of how i'd consider a conference is how much it makes me want to get what you're selling.
microsoft is in an awkward position where they have to compete with themselves, Nintendo's in a unique position where they can mostly live off their library and create a fantastic system, and Sony gets to play around with the most range of exclusivity and multiplatforms.

they didn't do anything bad, nothing was offensive... well, save the $500 price tag for X1X but it's a nice piece of hardware at least. just mind the liquid cooling. making the old console half the price of the new one does make me think that this is an end to generations as we know it, the X1X will probably get some games exclusive to its capabilities too in 3 years' time. by then a new hardware upgrade will be needed and the originals may be mostly phased out at that point. plenty of stuff was good, they just didn't sell you the product. dock a full letter for that.

I agree but most of this board probably still beats the shit out of each if they like Sega more than Nintendo or vice versa.

Kinda surprised it's still an effective marketing strategy. Of course Microsoft also blew their own legs off when they announced Xbone originally and are still receiving bile for it.

Which is why I, along with quite a few other people, have been saying it was a decent conference. They showed some cool games, but the main thing they were trying to do with selling people on the Xbox One X kind fell a bit flat because it's like "Yeah that's cool, oh hey look at all these games also coming to PC"

i don't think anybody's said it's a bad thing, it's just not something you give them extra points for in the conference. they're still trying to sell you the hardware and it's not like you're going to stop using Windows.

for what it's worth, some of those are unique to their store while others like Cuphead and i assume The Last Night aren't. so there's a weird mix between GFWL 2.0 and Steam in the PC releases which probably should be figured out.

I'd need to do the maths on XOX to know whether it's a good deal or not for sure, but a 4k water cooled system at that price is in itself somewhat of a miracle.

$500 is a stupid price because that's the price of i5+1070 and upgrading your pc with those two components is a lot more value for your money

Ori probably makes it to Steam at some point. The first one was eventually on GOG.

nobody benefits when Microsoft pushes games on the Windows 10 store. it's a bad proposition for every user.

And yeah I'm biased towards Microsoft in the same way I'm biased for Nintendo, because their console and staff have been good to me.

But I also own a top tier PC and a PS4 Pro, so it's not lik I'm sitting here going "XBOX RULES SONY SUX LOL".

Microsoft had a lot of games that I thought looked neat, and the fact they choose to let their games be played on PC should be a good thing.

It pretty much only hurts their Xbox division, but they do it still, and I think they should ge me credit for it.
