La should be lo Para should be por and it's años. Otherwise you're saying you were studying for five anuses. Not sure why you added ahora, it's not really needed in that sentence. I was probably being too literal with my translation when including ahora. I was saying I've been studying the language for five years (now) but I haven't spent time in a country or place where it's spoken.
