Do you agree Republican Sanford that Trump's message is divisive and evil?

Republican Mark Sanford from South Carolina said Trump is to partly BLAME for the "demons that have been unleashed" that lead up to the baseball shooting!!

He said "i would argue that the president has unleashed, it's partially, again not in any way totally, but partially to blame for demons that have been unleashed. There are forces at play that i've never seen before over the roughly 20 years i've been involevd in politics. It was like out of a movie"

He said he's noticed a discernible difference in how his constitutents talk to each other and believe they are taking a cue from the top..he was shocked to see the kind of violent behaviour from both sides as there is no cordial differences anymore.

He said "Whether it's what i saw at a senior centre back home and people saying FU to each other or with what happened yesterday, again not with what happened but with the fact, you know, you've got the top guy saying i wish i could hit you in the face if not why don't you and i'll pay your legal fees. That's bizarre, we ought to call it as such"

He hopes there will be some heavy soul searching right now as it's become so dramatic and thanks the DC police for taking down the gunman who would have killed 15-20 members of congress had they not been there to defend them.

The shooter was 61 /o James Hodgkinson who had long hated the GOP and said the 1% were pushing out the 99%. He was a stringent Bernie Sanders supporter and hated Trump as he's made anti-trump twitter tirades leading up to the shooting. Republican Steve Scalise is in critical condition as he is undergoing surgery.

The shooting also brought back memories of when then Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was shot in the head by right-wing whacko, Jared Loughner as he killed 6 people that day outside of a Safeway. Giffords was holding a constituent event when jared opened fire on her that almost killed her and eventually forced her to step down from congress.

Do you agree that Trump's message is divisive and evil? .

Divisive, perhaps, but not evil. The US is destined for collapse or balkanization in our lifetimes anyway.

I think the person to blame for things like this are the psychos that show up and start shooting.

The rest is politics.

Trump is super divisive and could have been just what a psychopath needed to justify himself.

Putting the blame anywhere except on the guy who pulled the trigger is victimblaming. Period. He's trying to blame his party for his party being victimized, which is wrongheaded, stupid, and something more akin to the hard-left than anybody pretending to be a Republican. No, scratch that, because even when Giffords got shot, no Democrat stood up and said, "We have to take accountability because our president is divisive."

I stand corrected.

Changing the definition of the word would in fact be "a whole new level." x)

tbh, I did forget it turned out he was a schizophrenic anarchist rather than somebody with a political leaning, mostly because pundits pushed the earlier narrative.

I believe Trump is the result of politics becoming more divisive, not the reason. This stuff was bound to happen no matter who got into office. It has just been a escalating since the country started and with things like social media it just becomes easier for it to spread.

In another 20 years I could see things like the shooting of politicians becoming a daily or weekly occurrence.

Pretty much this.

Also, in a more general sense, in a less politically divisive world, it's likely he wouldn't have even been elected because he wouldn't have hot button issues to push. However, since we have sides vehemently at odds with one another, it's easier for somebody to get over as a result. Then again, in a less divisive world, Sanders wouldn't have made it as far as he did either.

Well, Obama did something similar at one point and people have tossed the idea around for years. Granted, the refugee issue is worse now than it was in earlier years which is also prompting it.
