Joy Division is great, sure, but they weren't around for very long. New Order took it's place, and they eventually stopped. Joy Division is gothic above all else, from the pastoral sounding vocalist, to lyrics of melancholy to the morbid and brooding bass driven instrumentals. The theatrics are part of why it is goth.
