Personally I hate the term. Seems the focus on fun in video games isn't a thing anymore. I myself am a Nintendo fan, but my interest in gaming has gone down alot over the years. I appreciate everything all the companies do for the industry though.

Bioware is ruined. Capcom is ruined. Valve no longer makes games.
Naughty Dog and Bethesda don't make games very often. That's the thing, the other good companies don't really have good productivity because they mostly only have 1 or 2 teams.

Then there's smaller companies I like Chunsoft, Grasshopper

and then you have decent companies like Atlus for full blown weeabs


idk, just not a lot of consistent developers in the industry anymore.


I almost feel like the Switch will be a success just because a lot of 3rd party devs make disappointing games for PS4 and Xbone

Platinum games is a good third party I guess.

Who am I missing?
Square Enix makes a wash of games. kingdom hearts 3 and twewy 2 will likely never come out

I prefer From Soft and Platinum, if we're going by more recent titles.

I have a PS4, but I have yet to play them and I have a lot of games in my backlog

I love Nintendo. But at the same time i hate them for the lack of third party games. It's a hate/love relationship.

And when they do get a 3rd party game that's released on other consoles it always tends to be way shittier than the others.

But I always tend to get the Nintendo consoles because there's more games I want to play on them that I can't play on PC compared to the XBOX/PS lines. And after this past E3 I've definitely decided I'm getting a Switch, but I'm going to wait for more games to come out because I already got BotW for WiiU and there's been some hardware issues with the Switch. May just wait for that to all get sorted out and wait for a price drop.

I have the Switch already. But for the love of god: Buy the Pro Controller at the same time. You wont regret it.
It's probably the best Controller I'd ever used on console games.

I won't disagree with this but I will say that 3 of those 4 games were licensed Activision rush jobs.

See I bought the WiiU Pro Controller because I didn't think I'd like the GamePad, but I almost never used it because I ended up actually liking the gamepad. I had two gamecube controllers I used for smash, and the pro controller just kinda collected dust. dunno why.

The two Joy-Cons suck in my opinion. They are only worth while when playing head to head two ways.

Yes. But I dont really care if you prefer one company/console/whatever over another really.

But pretending they aren't enjoyable/good to some people and not to your taste over just "being bad" is silly and a typical issue in many mediums of entertainment.

Nintendo is good at what they do, which is creating gimmicks and marketing said gimmicks to people. Also, 3rd party games are always worse on Nintendo consoles nowadays, because the hardware is not as good. Xbox One, PS4, and PC are now all essentially the same architecture. The Switch, while stronger than the Xbox One and PS4, will be once again the weakest hardware when the newer versions of those consoles come out, and it's entirely custom hardware/firmware. The only company that really develops with that hardware in mind is Nintendo.

Unfortunately, by the time it's released, Microsoft and Sony will likely already be upgrading their consoles as well. I'm surprised they haven't gone to upgrades to install into an existing console, given how modular they are now with using off-the-shelf parts.
