A little bit, yeah.

Odds are you will be rejected a few times and they will not even tell you what you did wrong.

The worst part about summer jobs is that you have to apply months before it's actually summer. I usually don't get called back until like 8 weeks after I submit my application. So if it's June and you still want a summer gig you're probably not gonna get one.

I'm tried to get an internship, because it's my last year of college. Apparently, all internships interview for the following year. Why it takes a full year to recruit some unpaid interns is beyond me. I only applied now because I figured I didn't know anything about anything until this point. All the recruiters laughed at me for asking. I gave up, on that. Though I did talk to one who really liked me, for some reason, and they said to come see them closer to graduation and they'll consider straight up hiring me instead. I highly doubt she'll even remember me, but it's worth a shot, if nothing else comes up.

I really hope that last part was genuine and not another snarky way of saying "you don't know what real depression is like" because that's a great way for nobody to give a single solitary fuck about what you're going through.

I've also never had my own place. As far as I am concerned, I mean nothing to this world and I am of no value to society.

If you have degree in Comp Sci and no job, you really only have yourself to blame. There are so many fucking jobs in that area atm.

I worked like shitty logistics job for a year or two and got fucking bored of it, learned programming for about 3 months, now I'm a senior developer and I'm 25 dude. If you pursue harder, you CAN find stuff, and you also gotta actually make some stuff for your portfolio since 3? years of no actual experience and outdated programming knowledge WILL make you unhireable.

At that point you really are just a hikkikomori dweeb lol

Stop being victims. Learn new skills. Better yourselves. There should be a library within walking or biking distance. Go to the library and get free books on self-improvement. Become a better version of yourself each and every day.

The best time to start was yesterday. The next best time is today. I used to be in the same defeated depressed state as yall, but then I decided I had enough of that and busted my ass to make up for lost time. Went from making around $10,000 my first year of working to making over $100,000 a year just a few years later. It's possible if you haul ass and stop making excuses.

Even if you have to work like a dog, it'll be worth it in the long run. My first job was $10 per hour only whenever we had work from a client. There were days when I'd show up and barely get paid because it was just a first foot in the door. Take what you can get, improve your skills in the mean time, and you'll make it in the long run.

I held two jobs during high school. I worked at 3 different places throughout college. Had two jobs post-college in the interim before med school.

Every single place I applied to, I got an offer from.

This isn't meant to brag. Or to say it's easy--I do believe you guys when you say you're struggling with finding work. I was just lucky I guess?

This lol. It sucks ass, but you just gotta sometimes you through the mud. I'm not gonna pretend job market for young people seriously sucks. But there are a lot of solutions if you do look for it. Never ideal solution unless you are particularly brilliant, but solutions towards some dreams if you maintain them.

Finding your first job is absurdly depressing. You just need one place to give you a chance. After that it's smooth sailing as long as there are jobs available. That experience immediately puts you st the top of the food chain. My first job took me 2 years to get. My second job in the same field I applyed for called me in less than a week.

Also ask about interning or shadowing opportunities. That's an easy way in I learned late. If they know you are a hard worker and quick learner while working for free getting that job would be easy.

Try business analyst. It's a lot of talking, documentations, and interviewing, but you earn a lot of money for honestly really easy work. I looked into it for a while and decided it was too dull. I'm an easily bored guy, so my current position is ideal for me

Not to downplay the importance of having the right attitude, but there is something to be said about how egotistical it is to presume that a couple lines of empty platitude on your end is enough to lift others out of "bitterness and defeatism."

My best advice for job hunting would be, write a really concise resume. Ain't nobody got time to read that shit.

Then I'd say, write really short cover letters too. Again, ain't nobody got time to read that shit.

Then it's just a matter of luck in terms of being one of the first few to apply to a job and also determination and patience because you need to apply to a lot of jobs and some will take a long time to reply to you.

Don't treat job hunting like a full-time job. You need to be expanding your skillset in demonstrable ways. That'll allow you to fill your resume with relevant skills and can help you get to the interviewing stage.

When you start out your post with "stop being victims" it displays a glaring lack of empathy and makes it pretty easy for people to brush you aside. It's not like complaining about the job hunt is something that people enjoy doing. And generally speaking to people itt, everyone's circumstances are also different, so it's stupid as hell to mention how easy you had it while finding a job.

I didn't have it easy, you illiterate. And I'm not going to coddle people who need tough love rather than babying. I was in a seriously depressed and defeatist state a while back, and what helped me was being told how it is straight up. If that doesn't work for you, you'll have to find someone with a different style. But my style is to tell it like it is.

CS is pretty saturated right now, but if you have a degree you should grab whatever you can find for your first job and then keep learning as you work.

I literally said "generally speaking to people itt". Which addressed the people talking about their easy job-searching experiences. You can't call me illiterate if you're not even going to bother reading my whole post.

And if you think having empathy and actually giving encouraging advice is 'babying' and that insulting people while they're already in a low mood over their circumstances is what helps, then lol. Not sure what to say to that other than that you likely have more personal problems than you're willing to let on

I didn't insult anyone. Telling people to stop being victims and defeatists is not an insult. You don't need to respond with babbying and coddling to grown adults in order to have empathy. Responding with tough love doesn't mean you lack empathy, and telling someone to stop being a baby and a victim doesn't mean you're insulting someone.

I will try, but I have a feeling that I need to move out of the desert before I can ever land a job.

Right now, I have my associate degree in computer programming and I am a self-taught front end web developer. In all honesty, I feel more comfortable with developing something right now for anyone when it comes to websites. As for programming, I fully understand all the concepts, but I lack experience actually developing full-blown programs for anyone. Again, I am a recent graduate.
