Disc 1 is over. That scene I just...I can never not get emotional. Imagine being 12 years old, seeing that for the first time, only to realize 20 years later that it STILL beats out almost any emotional gut punch in gaming, no matter how many times I see it.

You pretty much have to wear the elemental armlets. I didn't, and had a horrible, no-good, whatever the fuck its called bad day. It's hard enough to save up on the Suicide Bolt with a Bolt Armlet when he uses the Fire and Ice breaths 20-50 times more, and then using Galian Beast on the WRONG FUCKING SIDE!

Oh yeah I forgot how much of a hinderance Vincent is. I remember one shotting groups of enemies when I first got him and then using him against Materia Keeper like haha get him Vincent. Ohhhhh. No stop. Idiot. Ahhhh.

It doesn't help everyone is like 4-5 levels behind Cloud, given how I've distributed playtime as evenly as I can. Jugs has two HP up materia, power sources up the butt, and the Power Wrist, but all she can hope to do is keep pace.

Yuna at least has a stat base that says, "Holy crap, I am a summer-ner." She has shit for HP. Which is to be expected. She has every high level Summon except Alexander. If you're curious, I avoided getting it out of a sort of "moral obligation." I mean, did it ever bother anyone how to get it? You have to go out of your way to find a woman in a cave, she asks you to leave. So, instead of leaving, you go, "I'll stick my hand in hot water and harass this woman: that's show her." She's an easy as fuck fight too, so beyond the moral distaste, you realized you beat up a defenseless female creature for her stuff.

Yes. I am defending my stance about violence against a videogame enemy. Whatever. Alexander isn't worth being a douchebag.

I'm pretty obsessive with this series because I've played the games often and teenage me was addicted to perfecting them. As a result there are tons of things I do that I really don't have to -- my life would be substantially easier if I didn't. Getting Omnislash on Disc 1, getting Finishing Touch before Rufus, stuff of that nature. I also do all possible sidequests on Disc 2 even though I agree with 5tarscream that it makes more sense to just hold off. <_<;

An honorable mention would be traveling the entire world in Disc 1. Great world build, and done very fast.

All obvious choices. Note only one Cloud/Sephiroth scene. I've actually grown to loathe those parts more as I grow up. Mechanically all three huge Cloud scenes (flashback/Reunion/Subconscious) can't be skipped (biggest flaw), making for a complete drag on an otherwise fast moving game.

I also don't like where the science goes. They try to explain away this weird ass mind control as a mix of science, sorcery, mind manipulation, and subconscious weakness.

In FFVI, they spent five seconds going Slave Crown, Kefka owns you, BOOM. Between this and Parasite Eve, I think Sakaguchi was trying to handwave spectacle and pseudoscience as some amazing thing or his hot new storytelling toy. When he focuses on down and dirty life stories and character interactions, FFVII shines.

Lzzy is ok (91 km/415 stamina), but Edge is horrid (67 km/387 stamina). I need to beef him up before trying again.

Edit: 83km/410 stamina. Maybe now he can compete a little. Much better. Easy win for both.

Both Chocobos are Rank B. Lzzy should be capable of hanging to A. That's all I'd need them for. Yeah...Edge wouldn't survive this. They really are weak stock. Hope their kids pan out way faster.
