Paper Mario (2000) and TTYD were excellent games and defined the Paper Mario franchise.

Then Super Paper Mario happened and Nintendo just went with that formula for 10 years...

SPM has as much in common with SS/CS as it does with the first two.

The first two Paper marios are in my top 5 ever.

SPM was still fantastic though, but not quite as good.

Well, I certainly won't play any more Paper Mario games that aren't traditional.

I skipped them after TTYD because I'd heard they changed the gameplay. I finally decided to give it a try with Sticker Star and I absolutely hated it.

Well, Paper Mario didn't get better after SPM.

Their Mario and Luigi RPG series is doing well. It's not like an RPG Paper Mario wouldn't work out money wise.

I guess they want IS fully-focused on Fire Emblem.
