still lingering obviously. The start didnt just "end" on Jan 2008, just the bulk of it did. A decent cut off point for the start of the Casual Revolution might be Iron Man 1's release in March/April 2008, as there are way too many fucking Marvel films due to the Casual Revolution.

This ending period for the Casual Revolution began around early 2015, the main capstone being Trump winning. There is still some small pieces that are tying up their loose ends, most likely ending around late this year.

well when most people here have very similar political opinions and only like 1 or 2 loud people disagree with them its hard for political drama to start as opposed to social media

The beginning of the Casual Revolution of 2007 - Fall 2006 (South Park WoW episode, Youtube bought by Google, etc)
Main part of the Casual Revolution of 2007 - 2007 (iphone, Twitter rise in popularity, Steam exponential growth, facebook opens to general public, financial collapse, netflix begins streaming, etc)
End part of the Casual Revolution of 2007 - Early 08 (more financial collapse, MCU starts, reddit explosion, etc)

Then from early 08 to about 2015 we lived more or less in the same shit, cultural stagnation

2015ish - flashes of the Casual revolution ending (people being more aware of cultural stagnation. Gamergate full swing, people getting extremely bored of gaming - though that could be earlier than that perhaps, rise of alt-right- look up when pepe the frog became popular...its like January 2008)
2016 - election of Trump, youtube demonitization, social media boredom, brexit. The main aspects of the end
2017 - end period. Lingering pieces here and there. Clean up period.

Aww I like Durango a lot. I always end up seeing him posting on boards for games I like abd he's all always really passionate.

Anyway, see you in a couple months. I left like a year ago and came back withing like half a year. It's just super easy to browse b8 when you're on the train or whatever.

Honestly GameFAQs can be rather irritating.

Oh sure this place can be mostly nice, so long as no one's toes get stepped on too much(aka politics).

But a lot of the community is unpleasant. Not helped by the fact that, for how easy it is to get in trouble on this site, the mods are very lenient. If you have a fairly old account, it takes a lot to actually get banned.


That said there are far worse sites as well. Gamefaqs is rather dated in both rules and trolls.

Considering I'm in the same eSports community as well as put in 15 years on this board...I don't buy the argument that the Smash 4 community is any better. Hell I'm 31, one of the things I appreciate about this place is the fact I'm near the average age instead of being 1.5 standard deviations older.

But unless you're balls deep in the politics stuff, UotY (why?), or chomping on some bad bait, this place is refreshing compared to the meme hell and wifi warriors that's most of the Smash community.
