Not really much to elaborate on. For many women (myself included), we get food cravings before and during a period. I think for most women it's either something savory or something sweet.

So far it has been alot of work, but keep in mind it is brand new and the self-care is kinda intense. I won't really know how it is until maybe another half year to a year from now, after the maintenance is pretty low-key and the healing is totally done.

But. A preliminary experience so far is you definitely have way more to be careful of and to take care of with a vagina than anyone with a penis has to. It is also way simpler to clean something external to something internal. There is also the need to regulate your diet so your bacterial levels are not wonky down there, unless you like stanky, itchy crotch syndrome.

Well, my co-worker who is post-op did it for like the first week and stopped. 20 years later, she started again.

I guess it is mainly to aid it's ability to actually have sex in the event you want it. I'm not too sure. I've never directly talked to the doctor about it, but I really assume it is penetration preparation.

As far as I know, you don't use any harsh soaps, and you don't stick anything up in there to try and clean the vagina itself, as you'll disrupt the delicate pH balance and potentially give yourself an infection. The vagina is relatively good at taking care of itself, but you have to take care of the outside.

Not dilating properly can lead to it closing up and requiring another surgery to open back up again. It starts out being many times each day, and slowly scaling back til it becomes once a week after a year. I am at twice a day right now, and it isn't so bad now.
