Netflix accidentally coded Babadook as an LGBT movie when it's just a horror movie. It became a meme and gay people ran with it and made him an icon.

gay memers are the worst. so prolific. so unordinarily funny.

oh come off it, some of those memes are hilarious.

Yes but it's. Shame there has to be because if there wasn't such bigotry against them (mostly by religious nuts) there wouldn't be a need for it.

Cause people can just be what they are and not have to bond together to find unity to deal with adversity. If being gay or straight didn't matter then there would be no need to bond to builds back up what shouldn't be put down in the first place.

Because people tend to be proud for some reason about things they have been born with, like sexuality, skin colour, nationality, etc. How can someone be proud of something they didn't do anything to achive?

Pride was created as a means of unifying and celebrating something that we were born with. So many people died and fought very hard to get the rights that gays have today.

THAT is something worth celebrating.

The message is...slightly diluted by some of the newer generations who don't respect the history behind it and use it as an excuse to party but...the message is just that.

People suffered, we preserved, we exist and will continue to exist and deserve to be acknowledged as normal humans.

Admire and respect the people who fought for it, celebrate they achived it, they shouldve been proud of achiveing what they did, but being proud of something one has been born with doesnt make any sense.

Whatever original merit it may have had, these days gay pride parades are more meaningless than if we had a straight pride parade. And, in general, things like parades, fireworks, etc, are just showy nonsense which interrupts traffic and costs taxpayers money. Trying to sift through this shit-storm of a topic just reinforces that idea.

I explained it already. Name something that straight people have suffered from or continue to suffer from?

Poverty
Depression
Dealing with authority / the establishment
Living like a fucking slave. As long as we're divided, and not work together we will never move on beyond the slave labor that is our lives.

Does nobody realize that our houses, schools and jobs are all prisons? Our schools are fucking hell. We force our children to be programmed to be slave for the first 20 years of our lives. We then are sold off to corporations to do their bidding, and we never get to actually be individuals, we never get to actually do what we want or live the way that we desire.

We are told we must accept the establishment as what it is and never question it.

So yea, as a people we all face the same issues unless you are so high and mighty that you're beyond being a cog and don't need to work because someone is paying for your life for you.

Kwame, I think you're a cool guy (and have always thought this) but seriously, there are more pressing issues than being prideful for your race, gender or sexual orientation.

I'm not missing the point, You are saying that the "CIS White Males" are oppressing racial minorities and the LGBT community. I'm saying that it's not all CIS White Males and we all shouldn't be classified under the same umbrella.

It is the same as not all feminists having the same ideals. Rad Fems / Lib Fems are two totally different sects of feminism.

There is a vocal minority that are cruel and bigoted people, and they do not have any set gender, identity, ethnicity, or culture.

Actually I never said cis white male. I never use that term because it's awful, lol. You're confusing me with an ultra liberal/feminist when I identify as an anti-feminist centrist. If anything the black community is more homophobic than the white (in america) but in places like Africa, Russia, Middle East etc are pretty much the same i the sense that being gay is one of the worst things you can ever be. That's also something we fight for. People oppressed in countries where the oppression is overwhelming. Gays in America have it pretty easy when you consider those places.

Point is, you're barking up the wrong tree baby. This is about why pride is a thing not about who causes said oppression of LGBT people.

when society shows you and tells you that you should be ASHAMED of this thing that you were born with, your reaction to that, in order to get away from that guilt and shame, is going to be pride. That's just how it works.

When you've been told your entire life that something is wrong with you because of something you were born with, you feel guilty and shameful about this thing. You feel othered. Working through that guilt and shame is about starting to have pride in who you are as a person, in spite of the messages you have received from the wider society.
