on that note, the biggest thing I can think of is embedded images. you might not want them eating up data on mobile, but still want them at your computer.

Not sure what's so hard to understand about this, it's just convenient to be able to adjust settings on one platform without worrying about it making things worse on another.

There are other nice things too though, like having different ignore lists, people aren't gonna freak the fuck out if you only make small comments from a work or phone account in mafia, etc

Also I dunno if gamefaqs actually logs you out if you have mutiiple sessions logged in on the same account from different devices but I feel like it used to have to log on on my phone all the time but I haven't had to for a long time. Not sure if that's related to using an alt or not.


I also used to use a work account just to keep my user map separated but i stopped caring about that a long time ago. Go ahead and axe me.

I like having a work account separate from my main in case someone else gets my IP in trouble. There's also that this limits my ability because my PM conversations and most of my private boards are on my main, which means I can focus more at work. I keep the same ignore list on both accounts, but the biggest difference is probably that my password for this one is easier to remember >_>

I used to have a separate account for my phone also, but I realized that it's my device so it shouldn't be a problem. It's not like somebody else is going to need to troubleshoot it. I honestly probably don't need a separate work account as long as I clear my cookies out when my machine's four-year life expires (that's the policy here).

Ok, so I can sort of understand being too lazy to change your embedded image settings so you make another account to keep it separate.

But why would you ever need separate ignore lists? If you don't want to read somebody's posts at home, why would you want to read them anywhere else?

There's tons of display settings that I like on my phone that I dislike on my computer and vice versa. In general my computer account has more details, like full timestamps, whereas on my phone i have that 1 hour ago thing because I want less detail to process scrolling through. I don't even see your dumb signatures on my phone. I forget what it is but I also have a different layout I like on my phone that is ass on my PC. I have my PC set to display spoilers on hover while my phone is click, etc. I mean there's tons of options in customizing gamefaqs and they are all tied to your account, not your device. There's gonna be features that work on a phone and those that work on PC.

That said, as far as ignore lists go, I'm far more relaxed on my phone. I'm not going to get into some dumb argument with Vlado or whatever while I'm on the bus, so I don't mind seeing his stupid shit as much. Instead of going "augh thats some stupid shit" and throwing my own stupid shit into the pile, I'll be like "augh thats some stupid shit lol" and get off the bus. It's just easier to walk away from.

Yeah that all sounds like straight lunacy to me. The only vaguely sensical one is turning off sigs on the phone, but it's very minor. The spoiler setting isn't even necessary for since it's always click to show on phone.

I guess you just must not use the AMP list and the little blue dots and such, which is the craziest thing to me since those are 90% of the way I interact with topics.

I have 3 accounts and I get super annoyed any time I have to use a different account than this one and lose my AMP list. It is absolutely THE worst thing about getting modded.

Literally the moderators have to FORCE me to use a different account. But for you just sitting on the toilet is a good enough reason. Just so you can see a different timestamp format and read Vlado posts... Yeah, not insane at all.
