always thought metal sonic was harder than robotnik. robotnik only had that one surprise attack that got me a couple times (when he shoots his arm out) but once i learned to expect that he's pretty cake.

It's pretty bad yeah. That thing with his arm always felt a bit off to me. Like you'd sometimes die even when it wasn't sticking out.

The only bullshit part of that fight that I find is that sometimes it glitches and I end up falling through the boss after hitting it, and end up touching the arm and dying. Other than that it's kinda easy to figure out when you can hit it.

I didn't like that boss because the window to hit him was weird/not obvious. Yes, I know it has to do with his spiky hands, but it's still awkward and sometimes you die out of left field while trying to hit him, when you clearly did so when his hands weren't extended.

It clearly could have been done better. It's not a graphics or difficulty problem, but more like a 'depiction/art of boss' problem. His hit window should have been more obvious.

Either that, or give Sonic some rings after beating Metal Sonic just to account for the margin of error if the boss's hit window was supposed to be ambiguous.

I've done it once. You truly do not notice Knuckles' lower jump height until you fight the final boss...damn.

Yeah, Knuckles having a weaker jump gives you such a small window to even land the hit on Robotnik. I have no problem with Sonic 2's final boss these days, though it was incredibly hard when I was younger. No matter how you cut it, a OHKO boss rush in any form is just cheap.
