I've been thinking of hosting a CYOPokemon game at some point, but not at a spot where I'd have time for that yet.

Since a lot of people have been a little downed from the intensity of this past game, I was thinking about putting together an unbalanced, non-serious set-up.

I went the first half of the topic blind, set up my opening suspicions based on actual reads. I think my initial 5 reads were Boko, Stan, puns, KBM, and someone else.

Stan was the one I hard pursued after learning the Scum team, and puns always defended when I said things so I said things back and got pulled into it.

I could have backed off of him, but it was in my personal nature not to (if I were Town), so I did not.

I had considered sending out the PMs like: you are scum, your teammates are x,y,z

Dels almost went a full day without checking the scum board in GoT1, but I don't really know how to stop that sort of thing.

I tend to agree that playing blind is unfair. Knowing your team is part of the scum perspective. If you don't know your team, you aren't playing with a true scum perspective, which is tantamount to cheating, imo.

Of course I'm also the guy who used my multi-voter power to speedlynch day 1 in fuck 2016 mafia because a guy refused to read his role PM (even though he'd read it and was lying for absolutely no good reason whatsoever period ask me how I feel about it.)

Players should know their roles and all that goes with it. Otherwise the game isn't quite right.

A) I don't feel like it would be a quality setup considering I haven't started making any yet

B) I have a hankering to be a player ;3

Give me a couple days if nobody else wants to step up and host, I have some ideas for setups lying around that I can revamp.

Stephen King Mafia 2 was one, or Babylon 5 mafia. I do have malleable setup ideas for either one ready to go.

(And incidentally if anybody knows they're not going to be interested in playing a game, and nobody else steps up to host, I'd love to have someone who's willing to be an ear for at least balancing purposes.)

This is probably the best solution, because you can't force somebody to read the scum board over the internet.

But can you also prove someone read their PM? A lot of users have the "The recipient does not allow users to see when their messages are read." message

If you're really serious about stopping that, you can ask players to turn that setting off for a day or so, and replace the ones that don't comply.

Kind of draconian, but it mostly works. The only remaining problem would be people that opened the message without reading it.

Which, at that point, fuck you, why are you even playing the game?


Edit: Actually, the 'best' solution is probably to force people to confirm by directly replying to the message, but whatever.

Point is, if you want to play blind for whatever reason, you're an ass and shouldn't be playing to begin with =)

Ouch. I feel embarrassed being called out on this.

I honestly don't remember why I did it, but it was the first and last time I did. It's absolutely wrong and goes against everything the game is about and I'd never do it again.

I wasn't trying to attack you or Han! You two are far from the only two that did it.

It didn't help you much anyway because Death got himself shot about 12 hours into the day and you had to run in in a panic to try and salvage something.

Then the guy from the NFL board got scared and ran away, allowing himself to be lynching (and losing your extra kill in the process).

It was not a great day 1, all things considered.

Just reading the full mason board, kinda funny how death asked if a BP can be roleblocked and red commented how silly that would be, but turns out we could have blocked leo and shot him since his BP was an active thing of putting on FFD's face.

Okay so if Shad and Han are planning on voting their roleblocker, he better have a good claim to make them pull off and there is no way in hell that they OKAY that claim that was dumb as hell when he was right up there for lynch, and people could potentially switch off FFD to lynch the claim vanilla over the non claimed FFD

I feel like since it is the roleblocker left that Puns is probably off the table. Will continue to look at his posts but its likely safe to nix him

For the longest time I told myself I was bad at scum because I'm bad at lying. Eventually I realized I didn't need to get better at lying, I just needed to start telling the truth as scum! I was very upfront about how I tried to make myself seem like power to escape my lynch but then retracted it to vanilla when nobody bought it.
