i mean i'd know for sure if i had a tax lien right? that's not something that can just slip under the radar? i always file my taxes early and i've never even had to pay taxes back at the end of the year.

the article says "The plaintiffs alleged something called “mislinking” of data—essentially when someone else’s info ends up on your report—leads to unfair credit score deductions. So for example, if someone who happens to have the same name as you has a terrible credit history, that could end up damaging your credit score, too. The suit also addressed the alleged difficulty of getting these types of errors fixed."

so i'm wondering if that was happening to me? i'm not sure.

Yeah, they'd send you a notice of judgment for sure. Like mine was accrued in the state of Maryland but they notified me at my DC address (1.5 years after the fact, but yeah)

And then it took another 6 months for it to hit my credit reports

i don't see why i'd have one. i just use turbotax for my taxes, always file on time, get a refund and i've never been audited.

the only thing i have in there are two closed collection accounts from 2012 from a medical clinic that i paid back in november 2012

I had a hospital bill that got transferred to a debt collection agency because I moved and never got the bills. Which is dumb because Ive always had enough money to pay it.

But I got lucky because instead of affecting my credit score it just got taken out of my tax refund. 785.
